About this event
ONLINE EVENT REGISTRATION is now CLOSED. The event is SOLD OUT with a waitlist for all groups other than Red (advanced). It is suggested that if you haven't been confirmed you NOT show up at the track, for it is unlikely you will be able to run. Our next event will be a Time Trial (higher prerequisites apply) on the Roval at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana as part of the California Festival of Speed, April 8-10. Registration is now open; see http://CalFestival.org. To modify your registration for the March 11 event if you are already signed up please e-mail preregAway@pcasdr.org.
Porsche Club of America – San Diego Region welcomes you!
Join us for our first of two Driver Education days in 2011 at the Auto Club Speedway Infield Road Course in Fontana, CA on Friday March 11. This event has no official timing (though in-car timers are currently permitted, except for novices). Our DE events now have no driving prerequisites! See Prior Experience section on the following page for details. Come on out, have fun, improve your driving skill, and be back home for the weekend! Time Trial drivers, while this event is not a TT, it's a great chance to perfect your Infield technique prior to the California Festival of Speed TT April 8-10 on the Roval.
Current plans for this event are to have to 4 run groups at most with a maximum of 20 cars each. To register online and save $15, we require that you join our group here on MotorsportReg.com. Regardless of which region of PCA you belong to or if you don't belong to PCA at all, you must join the SDR group on this web site. This will be done as a step in the registration process. Non-Porsches that meet our rules are welcome!!!
Back Again for 2011! – For those drivers who plan to run with us all season long – see our complete schedule here – we again offer a Season Pass at no up-front cost! Track rental rates have been rising steadily each year and yet we have not had a significant price increase in several years. Our regular prices have gone up slightly for 2011 to reflect some of our increased costs but with a Season Pass, you can help wind the clock back and get a free T-shirt! Sign up for the Season Pass with this event then simply pay for and attend all days of all of our TT or DE events this year (you may skip up to 3 event-days if need be) while receiving $25 off the regular online price of each multi-day event ($10 per single-day event). Note that if you have not already signed up for the Season Pass, you have missed two of your three allowable days due to our January event at Streets of Willow. Subject to availability, you'll also receive a free T-shirt just for signing up (only Medium and
Large are still available, in limited supply). You will not be charged anything up-front and will be entitled to the above discount at each SDR-managed track event including the California Festival of Speed. If you miss more than 3 event-days, you will be back-billed for the cumulative discounts you received plus $25 for the T-shirt (if available). Complete details will be sent to you after you sign up and you may opt out at that time with no cost or obligation. It's simple, costs you nothing, and saves you more than $100 over the course of the season! A draft of the shirt design is below (subject to change).
Taste of the Track: If you'd like to experience the thrill of a Time Trial or DE without actually taking the wheel you may sign up for our Taste of the Track program. For $100 you will receive all communications that our drivers receive, participate in all drivers meetings, and ride along in the passenger seat of one of our skilled Instructor's cars all day. In short, you'll receive the same experience as one of our Students without actually driving. To register for Taste of the Track simply sign up as if you were a Student participating in the event but in the Notes to the Registrar section enter "Taste of the Track". Prior to your card actually being charged, your total due will be adjusted to $100. Subject to Instructor availability.

Event requirements
Prior Experience: DE participants need no prior experience (minimum age of 18 years, valid state driver's license, and good mental and physical health required)! A 2011 Zone 8 Competition Permit or Log Book is required. Students without a Log Book or experienced drivers with credentials from another club should select the documentation option on the registration page.
All novice drivers will be required to have an Instructor. Novice DE drivers will have a required educational component as part of their schedule that commences on Friday morning, prior to driving. If you are a novice DE driver with no prior performance driving experience you must be available on Friday morning March 11 at 7:00 am at Auto Club Speedway. Acceptance of novice DE drivers is subject to instructor availability. Also please note that an approved helmet is required. Please contact the Registrar for information on helmet rental if needed. Experienced drivers new to SDR events may also be required to have an Instructor until their competency has been demonstrated.
Pre-tech is Strongly Encouraged! Please try to take your car in for service and have it thoroughly inspected prior to this event. You won't want to travel to Fontana only to be disqualified for incorrect safety equipment which may be required based upon the level of modifications to your car (Stock and Street Stock coupes generally need no additional safety equipment, but see the Rules link below to be sure that you qualify). Plus you'll want to ensure your car is in good running condition. All entrants pre-teching must present a Tech Inspection Form with name, address, phone, car, class, etc. to a qualified tech inspection shop. The form can be found at: http://www.pcasdr.org/img/pdf/general/AXRegForm.pdf. The Tech Inspection Form has changed for 2011. Please download the new form using the link above. Do not use the old form. Cars inspected by shops not personally known to the Registrar are subject to random on-site re-inspection.
PCA Zone 8 Driving Rules can be found here: http://zone8.pca.org/rules/2011/2011Z8Rules.pdf.
If there are any changes to your registration data after the online registration deadline, you need to notify the Registrar by the day of the event BEFORE the first run session.
All entrants and guests shall be required to sign the PCA waiver upon registering at the track. This is in addition to any waiver that the track itself may require you to sign. You are responsible for your guests and may be asked to leave the event if your guests are found to have not signed the PCA waiver.
The track may or may not charge its own separate nominal entrance fee. This fee does not go to PCA and is beyond our control.
