ON-TRACK Time Trial, drivers will tackle the 1.7mi Rockingham Speedway and vie for the best single lap during TimeAttack lapping sessions. The best times from each day will be combined to determine finishing order and the top three overall take home the trophies.

ON-TRACK Track Day/Event, drivers share the track with the Time Trial's morning practice sessions and get to experience the 1.7mi Rockingham Speedway and an option to upgrade to the Time Trial at any time. 

OFF-TRACK: For all participants we will provide a social on Saturday evening.

VolunteersThose who want to experience the action, excitement, and festivities of a Time Trials are not limited to drivers. Corner Workers, Grid, Tech Officials, Timing and Scoring gurus, and more are absolutely welcome at the event and at the parties. Helping as a volunteer, worker or officials costs nothing.

Event requirements

I. GENERAL EVENT RULES:

A. THE BASICS: This event is governed by the 2022 SCCA Time Trial Rules (TTR) and National Competition Format as outlined at timetrials.scca.com plus the rules and procedures found on this page.

B. CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION: Will be in the Hospitality area of the Garages.  See schedule for hours.

C. TECH: Will be located in Garages adjacent to the Hospitality area. See Schedule for Hours. See Tech instructions below in the Vehicle Safety section.

D. HELMETS: If you have a 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 SCCA issued Helmet Sticker, be it from TT, TNiA, Solo, Road Racing, or RallyX- you are good for this event.  If you do not have a helmet sticker, please bring your helmet to tech.

E. COVID/MASKS: Masks are not required at this time. Please be aware that local COVID Guidelines may change as we approach this event. Please be prepared for the possibility that you may need a mask available. 

F. DRIVERS MEETINGS: Driver’s meetings will be held at the hospitality area of the Garages on Saturdy and Sunday Morning. Times are posted on the Schedule.  

G. PASSING & TRACK PROCEDURES: Groups will use the suggested passing rules and procedures for Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Drivers as outlined in the “Rules of The Track” section found at timetrials.scca.com.

H. CLOTHING: Drivers are required to wear the minimum clothing outlined in the SCCA Time Trials Rules for their car and class. Safe apparel must be worn in the pits at all times (shirts and closed-toe shoes). Only event officials are allowed on Pit Lane.

I. PACED LAPS: Paced Laps are intended for Novice Drivers and Drivers who have never seen the track. Other drivers may join with the permission of their group's driver coach if they join at the back and track density permits.

J. ENTERING/EXITING THE COURSE:  No tire scrubbing in the pit lane.

K. IMPOUND: Drivers will report to impound for post-session debriefs immediately following each session.

L. RESULTS/LIVE TIMING: Provisional results will be available on RaceHero.io and the RaceHero App. If printed results are needed they can be picked up @ Timing in the main tower.

M. FLAG PROCEDURES: Black Flag Station and other event-specific flagging procedures will be announced at the event.

N. EVENT SCHEDULE: Actual session start times may be delayed from the published schedule due to unforeseen circumstances during the event. It is the driver’s responsibility to listen to the PA announcements and pay attention to activity on track. The schedule or run groups may only be changed (or start times advanced) at the discretion of the Competition Director, with concurrence by the Event Lead, depending on pre-race entry counts or as needed to accommodate situations during the event.

O. COMMUNICATIONS: Radio frequencies used by event officials may be monitored but shall not be used for communication by any participant.

II. DRIVER ELIGIBILITY:

The event is open to all drivers with a valid state driver's license and a full or weekend membership to the SCCA.  If you don't have a membership you can join or include the weekend membership when you register.

A. TIME TRIALS LICENSES: It will help if you have one, but it's OK if you don't. Event officials will work with you to make sure you get one fitting your experience level at the event. (No charge, seriously, it's simple we promise)

B. MEDICAL: Please notify the Officials of any pertinent medical condition(s). Any participants involved in an accident in which there is significant damage or any injury, or at a race official’s discretion, MUST present themselves or be transported to the track medical team/EMS for evaluation. Off-site medical transportation fees may apply.

C. MINOR DRIVERS: Drivers 17-years-old or younger can compete, but there is some extra paperwork so please contact Officials before the event and get approval from the Event Lead.

III. VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY:

Competition is open to all vehicles conforming to the SCCA National Time Trials Safety rules above. NO CLASSING will be required for this event.

NOTE: All Convertibles, roll-over protection is required, it is outlined in the safety link above, but if you have questions please ask prior to the event! We are happy to help!

C. TECHNICAL INSPECTION: All participants must report to Tech to turn in tech completed Tech Sheets to receive their tech sticker prior to any on-course participation. If you DO NOT have advanced safety in your car (Advanced Safety = Aftermarket belts, seats, roll-over protection, etc) you DO NOT need to bring your car to tech, just the tech sheet.

D. NUMBERS: All participants must run their number on both sides of their car. We also recommend numbers on the roof for this event.  Numbers must be at least 12 inches high and the stroke must be 2 inches wide. There must be a color contrast between your number and the background the number is on. (i.e., do not use blue painters’ tape on a black car) Painter's tape can be ordered in any color of the rainbow. If you would like to receive times legible numbers and installed transponders will be important. Please make sure that your number is visible and legible. If you have questions about numbers please reach out to Timing.

E. TIMING:  All cars are required to use fully operational MyLaps/AMB TranX260 or X2 transponders. Drivers are responsible for providing correct information to Timing.

F. TRANSPONDERS: Need a transponder, we have you covered. Every entry will be provided a transponder included with their entry. If you have your own transponder, awesome! Please make sure to fill in the number when you register. Cars with non-functioning transponders will not be timed. 

IV. TRACK INFORMATION:

A. RULES OF THE PITS: Event Staff Only on pit lane. Smoking is prohibited in all hot areas, which includes pit and grid. Pit road speed limit is 25 mph.

B. RULES OF THE PADDOCK: The paddock is defined as the area adjacent to pit road and grid.  These rules apply to all paved, gravel, and grass areas. 

C. PADDOCK VEHICLES: Use of ATV’s or gasoline-powered pit vehicles is at the discretion of Rockingham Speedway and the chief steward and shall not exceed 10 MPH. These vehicles shall be operated in a safe manner and only by licensed individuals.  No fireworks, firearms, weapons, or illegal drugs are permitted anywhere on the premises.  Animals must be on leash at all times.  Failure to abide by these rules may result in immediate expulsion from the event premises by track management or the organizing region and/or a permanent ban from the track.  

D. SOUND CONTROL: A sound limit of 103 db is in effect per everyone's ears.  

E. QUIET HOURS: No race engines may be run between 8:00 pm and 7:30 am each day.

F. FACILITIES:  Rockingham Speedway is an SCCA-approved 1.7-mile road course. 

  1. Garages reservations will be available by making a donation to Racing for ALS. Select that you would like to reserve a garage when you complete the registration form and Racing for ALS will contact you with details about the process.
  2. Electricity is available in the paddock.  The electric power that is available is to be shared by all.  DO NOT OVERLOAD THE POWER OUTLETS. 
  3. At this time there is no water access available in the paddock, please bring any water you will need with you.
  4. Minimal RV electrical hook-ups are available and will be first come, first serve. There are also RV sites outside of the track with no hook-ups. 
  5. Porta-johns and limited Toilets/showers are available. 
  6. No batteries, tires, or fluids are to be dumped at the facility. 
  7. The speed limit on all property is 10 mph. 
  8. The paddock will be open for entry at 5 pm on Friday, or earlier at the discretion of Rockingham Speedway.  Any SCCA member arriving at the track outside of Check-In/Registration hours may be allowed to enter the track upon signing a Track waiver, and at the discretion of the Rockingham Speedway Security Guard.  Any individual entering in this manner must return to Check-in/Registration during their open hours and get checked-in before being allowed to participate in any part of the event.  Driver or crew not properly SCCA credentialed will be ejected from the track without refund.
