West Texas Tour
Thursday, April 12th -- Sunday, April 15th.

The Lone Star Chapter is planning a trip to the West Texas Mountains (yes, supposedly we have Mountains) – starting Thursday, April 12th and ending Sunday, April 15th. We’ll start from Cleburne, Texas and make our way to San Angelo for lunch. The first day ends in Fort Stockton at the Holiday Inn Express. We’ll have dinner at a local restaurant and rest up for Day 2.
Friday, April 13th will take us through Big Bend National Park. In 2015, a group went over the border for lunch in Mexico, taking a donkey into the city and then having lunch. Our default plan will be to try the Boquillas Cross Port and will require a passport. As an alternative, a small hike at the Santa Elena Canyon and a light, late lunch in the Chisos Basin. Once we reconnect, we plan on traveling the US-Mexico border, passing through Terlingua on our way to Presido. We will end Day 2 in Alpine, TX at the Hampton Inn Alpine and have dinner as a group.
Day 3 will take us around McDonald Observatory and the mountains surrounding the observatory, stopping at the highest road in Texas. We’ll stop for lunch in Marfa and visit the Food Trucks and examine the local artistry and shopping found in Marfa. Later that evening, we’ll join the McDonald Observatory for the Twilight Program (7:45 p.m. limited to 94 total people) and (optionally) join the Star Party at 9:15 pm (unlimited people, weather permitting).
Day 4 will take us through Balmorhea State Park and Pecos, TX and return to DFW via Interstate I-20.

There are both single occupancy (1 King Bed) and dual occupancy (2 Double Bed) options available which can be selected during the registration process by answering the built-in question.
