About this event
This year we'll combine portions of the Back, Tail and Claw of the Dragon into our own Dragon Drive. We'll still be driving through picturesque countryside on some challenging roads to exercise our Ultimate Driving Machines. The drive will put us smack in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia & West Virginia. We'll also venture out to The Breaks, an interstate park, located on the Virginia, West Virginia & Kentucky tri-border and get a terrific view of the "Grand Canyon of the East."
On Columbus Day weekend, we will head west to tackle this and other BMW worthy routes. Highlights of the driving tour will include:
- Caravan from Hampton Roads to Wytheville, Friday, October 11; we'll meet at the Shell Gas Station, 4717 W Military Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23321 at Noon, departing at 12:15 pm
- 'Dragon Drive’ (www.visitvirginiamountains.com/trails.html), October 12
- ‘To the Breaks and Back’ tour on Sunday (clawofthedragon.com/to-the-breaks-and-back.html) with sightseeing and lunch at Breaks Interstate Park, the “Grand Canyon of the South” (breakspark.com) $2/car entry, $14 buffet
- Caravan back to Hampton Roads, Monday, October 14
- Accommodations at the Tru by Hilton, 245 Boyd Ave, Wytheville, VA 24382 [Reservations are ALREADY MADE; when we arrive you can provide needed information for your room] ($94 per night)
