ARPCA Pitt Race - Autocross

Pittsburgh International Race Compl

About this event

Come Autocross with us at Pitt Race Complex!

Come attend the first of the 2012 ARPCA Autocross events.  The 2012 Season includes:

  • Sunday May 27th at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex (formerly known as BeaveRun).
  • Saturday October 20th at the Falconi field in Washington County

Autocross (AX) will give you the opportunity to test yourself and develop your own skill set, as well as learn the limits of your vehicle in a safe and controlled environment. All events are based around a course made of traffic cones and each lap timed for each driver. AX seldom exceeds speeds of 60 mph and has no “wheel to wheel” competition.

AX is a great entry-level competitive driving event that requires little car prep, time or money. Beginners are welcome and there are no pre-requisites other than a vehicle in safe working condition.  Before each event begins there is a guided Course Walk that takes you step by step through the driving line and explains how to navigate through the cones. This is especially helpful for first-timers and those that want a second perspective.

The size of the field will determine the number of runs which occur.

Cost: PCA Member: $30 per driver.  Non-member: $35 per driver.  If multiple drives in one car must register separately!

Event requirements

Requirements:

  • You can use any car that has a valid state inspection. Though it is not required we recommend that you have your car inspected by you local mechanic to assure that all the running gear is in working order.
  • Drivers must be 16 or older and have a valid Drives License - please bring this with you to the event
  • Helmets which meet the Snell 2005 or newer rating are required.  Apex Performance has been a strong sponsor to ARPCA and can help you with a new helmet: Apex Performance
  • Each car will undergo a technical inspection at the course
  • Note: Every participant will be asked to volunteer in some way.  This can include Seting up, registration, flagging, cone setup/replacmement, breakdown, etc.

Car Classification:

During registration you will be asked to select car category and class your car best fits.  There are four categories of classes for Porsches – Showroom Stock, Production, Improved and Modified. Categories are related to automobile configuration. There is a separate category for all non-Porsche vehicles.

  • Showroom Stock (S) category contains classes of automobiles as normally delivered and specified for use in the United States and Canada. Factory options as normally available for a specific model year are permitted. Certain factory and/or dealer installed equipment/ options will move an automobile out of S and into Production or higher so as to maintain the intent and integrity of the Showroom Stock classes.  Choose this class if your car has no modifications.
