Registration Verification
Please review the list of attendees and other information that was sent to you in June. Please verify the accuracy of your information and let us know of any changes or corrections. A final version of this will be distributed to participants on the Tour.
Thursday, July 15, 2010 – Start of Tour
The Tour will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Hub Car Wash in Colorado Springs (4460 Forest Hill Road – 1 mile west of I-25 on Garden of the Gods and then 1 block south on Forest Hill Road – look for a Diamond Shamrock). Breakfast is included as part of registration fee. Please be on time as we must complete registration, pass out “Goodie Bags,” and conduct a mandatory “Driver’s Meeting.” The first car out will be on the road at 9:00 sharp.
Dress
For nearly all portions of the Tour, the dress is casual. However, on Thursday night, we are having dinner at Rustico Ristorante, an upscale restaurant in Telluride. For this evening, we would recommend “mountain resort casual”. This loosely translates into “business casual” with jeans. On Saturday night, we are having our Closing Tour Dinner at the Capella Telluride. For this we would suggest “mountain resort casual” as well.
Thursday Night Dinner
The Rustico Ristorante is considered one of the best Italian restaurants in SW Colorado. Given the size of our group, they are unwilling to do separate checks. Therefore, we need everyone to bring a checkbook for your dinner. The total, including tax and tip, is expected to be $50 per person. Credit cards will not be accepted.
Mini-Show and Shine
The Town of Mountain Village has asked if we would be willing to display a select group of 4 or 5 cars on Saturday, July 17th. The location will be their main plaza that is located adjacent to the Capella Telluride. It is a relatively safe and secure venue and would highlight the Porsche Club’s visit to Telluride. If you are interested in displaying your car, please let me know.
Telluride Weather
The Town of Telluride’s elevation is approximately 8,000 ft. and the Capella Telluride in Mountain Village is at approximately 9,000 ft. Even though it will be mid-summer, the evening and morning temperatures will drop to the 40s and the mountains are prone to passing afternoon thunderstorms. Please be sure to pack accordingly.
Jeep Tour
For those going on the Jeep Tour, you will climb to elevations over 13,000 ft. Jackets, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and cameras are an absolute must. We will provide water and snacks for your ride.
Capella Telluride – Car Wash Options
The Capella Telluride has set aside a location where you will be able to wash your car. They will provide high-pressure water, buckets, sponges and soap. All you need to bring is your own towel.
or
The Capella Telluride has offered to wash the outside of your car for $20. They will wash it during the evening so that it’s ready for your drive in the morning. If this is something you want, just let them know when you check into the hotel.
Capella Telluride – Check In
When we arrive at the Capella Telluride, we will immediately go to the underground parking lot where the hotel staff will expedite check-in and handle your bags. Please be sure that all bags are properly “tagged” so they are delivered to the correct room.
