2013 Peachtree Instructor Continuing Education

Harrison Motorsports

About this event

Peachtree Chapter BMW CCA Driving Events Committee would like you to join us for our fifth Driving Instructor Seminar (for existing instructors only - this is NOT a training for new instructor candidates).

The seminar will be on February 9th from 8:30 AM-12:00 noon. The objective of our seminars is to utilize the knowledge and skills of our instructors and special guest speakers, to present and discuss topics that will improve instructing techniques.

We are excited to bring together a panel of expert builders/ drivers who will speak to the characteristics, performance and technology of some of the fastest and most capable streetcars on the market today.

We are seeing an ever- increasing number of streetcars at driver education events with performance capabilities previously only available with dedicated racecars.  To better prepare you to the challenge of instructing in these cars we have a panel of experts who will share their knowledge about these cars. Sharif Abdelbaset the GM of Forged Performance in Marietta has expertise with Nissans and Infinitis and has prepared and driven many Nissan GTRs for track use.  The GTR is a highly sophisticated vehicle with amazing performance and Sharif will share his knowledge about these cars in both stock and prepared trim.

World Challenge racer Reese Cox of MTI Racing in Marietta, GA is the guru of the Chevrolet Corvette and GM V8 powered vehicles, preparing many of the Z06s that make their way on to the track.  The MTI crew is a regular fixture at Road Atlanta, AMP and driving events throughout the SE.  The Corvette has a long tradition of performance and took a major performance leap with the introduction of the Z06 and ZR1.  The Z06 has become a very popular track car and Reese will share his knowledge of this car in both stock and prepared trim.

Seth Thomas will round out the panel covering both the Porsche GT3, of which he has owned several, and the BMW E90 series M3.  Seth, a member or our chapter, and Bimmerworld team pro driver, will cover the dynamics and characteristics of when the engine moves to the back of the car and is in the front.  When Porsche introduced the GT3, it was a track ready car and is one of the most popular cars for track events.  Seth will also be able to share insights into the capabilities of the M3.  The most recent series has raised the performance of the BMW brand to new heights.

We are privileged to have three people of this caliber to educate us on these high performance automobiles.  Do not miss learning from them.

While the event is free of charge to Peachtree instructors we ask that you register at MSR so we will have a count for event planning.  We will be hosted at the newly remodeled Harrison Motorsports owned by DE Chief Instructor, David Harrison.  The details are:
