School requirements

All cars that go on the track must pass a tech inspection before the event and the completed and signed Tech Form presented at event registration. WE DO NOT DO ON SITE TECH INSPECTIONS. If you arrive without a completed and signed tech form by a professional mechanic you will not be allowed to drive.

The tech form can be found here: GGC Laguna Tech Form

Your car must be registered, you must be a licensed driver, 18 years of age or older and you must be a current BMW CCA member to be eligible to participate (the non-member price includes a non-refundable one-year BMW CCA membership).

Note: Attendance at a GGC Car Control Clinic (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for first-timers planning to attend any of our driving schools who do not have previous high-performance driving experience (if in doubt, email to ask).

Snell (M or SA) 2010 or 2015 helmets are required for our track events. Now that we're in 2018 and the Snell 2015 rated helmets have been available for over a year, the older Snell 2005 rated helmets are no longer allowed so make sure your helmet is up to date.

Convertibles and T-top cars must have 5-point/6-point belts and arm restraints, as well as an approved roll bar installed.  Factory "rollover protection" for a soft top (i.e. BMW Z3 and Z4, Porsche Boxster) is not sufficient for the school.  Convertibles with hard tops, including folding hard tops, are NOT ALLOWED.

Examples of cars NOT ALLOWED include: Firebirds and Camaros with T-tops or convertibles; any Corvette other than the Z06 coupe and the C7; Porsche convertibles and Targas.  The Lotus Elise and Corvette C7, while targa-style cars, ARE ALLOWED due to its structural design only if the hard roof panel is in place (the soft roof panel is not sufficient).  It is essential that you email us to discuss these issues well in advance if you plan to bring a convertible or T-top car.  We will not give refunds if you sign up with an ineligible car.

Cars will have to pass a restricted sound limitation of 90db so keep that in mind when getting the tech inspection for your car.

If you would like to share a car with another student, please contact the Registrar by clicking the Host Details to the right before registering.

Cancellation policy: Any cancellations prior to April 8th pay $50.00 (or $98 for non-members, who will receive a 1-year BMW CCA membership).  No refunds for cancellations on or after April 8th. If you think you may not be able to attend, please purchase commonly available trip insurance.

Please make sure to include and update your driving experience and your emergency contact info in your account when you register online.

An event prep overview and the required GGC BMW CCA tech form are available at the GGC Driving School website
