Tour de Frank Deux 2-Day Autocross (Event 9 & 10)

Milton Frank Stadium

About this event

Tour de Frank Deux Autocross

Twickenham Auto Club is hosting a special 2-day autocross on October 12-13 at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, AL. The event will feature 6-8 runs each day. Your best run from each day will be combined to determine your placing (similar to an SCCA National Championship Tour). In addition, the individual results from each day will be used to score event #9 and #10 and class points. Day 2 will start earlier and focus on being done on time for out of town folks (see schedule below). There will be CASH PRIZES for pax, raw, novice, and class winners! Must run in the same class each day to qualify for class prizes. Free water provided. Stadium bathrooms available on site. Security will be provided over night.

IMPORTANT: Individual results from each day will be used to score TAC/TVR-SCCA points events 9 & 10. If you skip the entire weekend, it will count as two "Drops."

Initial entry limit of 130 with waitlist. One week prior to the event, entry limit may be raised to 150 at discretion of the event organizers. Priority will be given to wait-listed competitors who have been competing in the TAC/TVR championship points series all year.

Novice Requirements

Novice class is an experienced based class, not performance based. To run novice class, you must have 5 or less autocross events experience prior to January 1, 2019. Current season two-time novice winners should enter novice class for this event. However, for event #9 and #10 points scoring, 2-time winners will be omitted from novice points standings since they are auto-qualified for the championship event in December.

Milton “Frank” Stadium

Courses in Huntsville are typically long, in the 50-70 seconds range or about .6-.7 miles.  Site is sealed asphalt and not hard on tires. Plenty of paddock space for car haulers. Stadium bathrooms will be open on site. Course map will be posted on the forum between 1-5 days prior to the event -- see forum CLICK HERE.

Run & Work Groups

Efficiency is a priority at our events. We aim to provide the maximum number of runs possible, usually 6-8 runs, sometimes more! We typically use a "2 group" format as shown in the schedule above. However as attendance approaches 115+ drivers we may use a "3 group" format, where you would drive all of your runs in one session, work one session, and be "Off" the next. The final number of groups will be decided by the Event Master and announced at the mandatory driver's meeting.

IMPORTANT -- If you run with us, you must also work the course, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Any exceptions to leave early must be requested by contacting the Worker Chief directly BEFORE EVENT DAY via our forum. Regular exceptions will NOT be given, special cases only. Skipping your work assignment without approval, causes hardship to event organizers, and is considered poor sportsmanship. We track attendance.

Championship Series Points

The Championship Series will determine the most consistently outstanding drivers for the year within a class and Top 10 PAX and RAW. You will accrue points for all the events you participated in as long as you become a member of TAC or TVR by the final event of the year. You must also compete in more than half of the points events of the year and in a single class to earn points. Further details can be found in our autocross rules here: 2019 Official Autocross Schedule and Rules

Novices and the Novice Championship

We welcome all new drivers to our events. We provide a Novice Class which is intended for first year autocrossers. If you have run 5 or less events prior to the season start, you're eligible to run Novice Class all year. If you have never autocrossed, we strongly recommend you enter the Novice class and attend our Novice Walk-thru as shown in the schedule above. During the Novice Walk-thru a veteran autocrosser will show you the basics and give course-specific tips. Entering the Novice class is in no way a restriction, however it will allow you to get extra help if desired.

Novice class drivers will be able to qualify for our year-end Novice Championship event. The Novice Championship winner will receive a free Season Pass for the following season! Details about how to win will be posted here: ***link_tbd***

Event requirements

Requirements

  1. All drivers must be have a full and valid license with you at the event. Permits are not acceptable.
  2. Autocrossers under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or legal guardian sign a minor's competition waiver.
  3. Helmets are required -- we have loaners available.
  4. All drivers must fulfill their work assignments. Work assignments will be given at the drivers meeting by the Worker Chief. We do not allow working only half of the day.

Sound Policy

TAC/TVR has a strict sound policy, due to our residential location and agreement with the Milton Frank Stadium owners. Your car must not be louder than 96 dB without exception. Sound will be monitored approximately 50 feet from the course. The type of exhaust (stock vs aftermarket) is not restricted, but it must not exceed 96 dB. If your car exceeds 96 dB on a run, you will be notified, the run will be scored as a DNF, and not allowed to run again. If you show that a modification has been made to reduce noise (driving at half throttle does not count), then you will be allowed to run again. If your car exceeds the limit a second time, the car will not be allowed to run for the rest of the day. We want EVERYONE to have a great day autocrossing, please make this easy by fixing your car before the event! If your car is disqualified, you may run in another car -- talk to event master to be switched.
