Nicholas was the son/brother of two of our solo friends, Tom and Sara Sotiropoulos. The 4th of July "OH SAY CAN YOU SEE - SOLO FOR NICHOLAS" Event is a charity event in his honor. Tom told us that there were several charities that were so good to the Nicholas and the family during all the years that Nicholas bravely battled childhood cancer that we thought that the St. Louis Solo Community would try to help those who helped this them with some charity efforts. Tom was sure that Nicholas would have loved a Solo Event, as he knew how much his dad and sister love chasing those cones with us.
Nicholas Dean Sotiropoulos - (July 20, 1993 - May 3, 2009)
Nicholas Dean Sotiropoulos, age 15, of O'Fallon, IL born July 20, 1993 in Belleville, IL died on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his residence.
He was a member of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, O'Fallon, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Telford Boyer.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Jody, nee Boyer, Sotiropoulos; his brothers and sisters, Sarah, Michael, Samuel and Rachel Sotiropoulos of O'Fallon, IL; his grandparents, Dr. Peter (Betty) Sotiropoulos of Belleville, IL; his grandmother, Joan Boyer of Odessa, MO; and he was a dear nephew and cousin.
His father Tom, and sister Sara are St. Louis Region SCCA Soloists.
Nicholas was a beloved son and brother and taught others the new meaning to words like courage, bravery, generosity and love. He touched lives in a way that few can. The terrible pain and sense of loss everyone feels is tempered by the joy of the memories of a life shared. Nicholas will be loved and remembered always.
Nicholas' family would like to thank everyone who has supported him through his journey, and especially to the charities who helped him in his battle with cancer.
This event will be collecting money for the Nicholas Sotiropoulos Cancer Fund
Many really neat items have already donated for a silent auction. We have items from Build-A-Bear, Ridermakerz and Gateway Raceway plus many die cast cars donated by Kyle Langley.
Event Chairmen - John Powell and Jan Rick
Honorary and Assistant Chairmen - Tom and Sara Sotiropoulos
