SASC "Dash For Cash" Autocross Bracket Challenge

YYC Lot

About this event

Event is capped at 64 entries. Waitlisted entrants will be accommodated on a first-come/first-serve basis based on cancellations.

Welcome to the SASC "Dash For Cash" Autocross Bracket Challenge!!

This is a bonus event for the SASC. It is not part of our 2026 season championship, and it does not count for points for your season.... It is all about fun!!

This is a special format of Autocross event, where there is no PAX, and the fastest driver does not necessarily win. This could be anybody's race. The slowest car may become the winner!

There will be cash prizes available for the top finishers of this event!

1st Place $400.00
2nd Place $250.00
3rd Place  $150.00
4th Place  $100.00
5th place  $  50.0

Bonus prize: FREE entry to a future SASC event for the rookie competitor who goes the furthest in the tournament.

How it works:

In the morning, all drivers will do 3 timed runs on the course as fast as they can, just like at a normal autocross. Your fastest RAW time of the morning will become your "dial-in" time.

In the afternoon, this is when the bracket-style tournament takes place! You will drive (one at a time) against an opponent. Your goal is to run the closest to your dial-in time without going under it, or "breaking out". If you are closer to your dial in time than your opponent is to his/hers, or if your opponent "breaks out", you move on to the next round.

If BOTH opponents break out during a round, the competitor who breaks out the least will move on to the next round.

If an opponent breaks out and moves on to the next round (as per above), they will be assigned a “dial in” time reduction equal to 1.5 times the amount “broken out” for the next round.

Example:
Dial In time 60.00 secs
Run time 59.00 secs
1.0 second break out x1.5 = New Dial In time 58.50 secs

We hope everyone enjoys the competition!

Any 1st year regular participant does not qualify for 2nd year Rookie participation.
Rookie mentorship

The SASC is always encouraging new people to come and join in our events and to help remove some of the potential intimidation one may feel. We are looking for seasoned autocrossers to mentor rookies at events. If you are willing to help mentor a rookie at an event, please answer yes to the mentor question when you register for the event. Some of the possible mentorship responsibilities would be; giving the rookie a ride along, being available to answer their questions, riding with them, and giving advice.

Rookies can check out the SASC website for more information and tips at https://web.sascsolo.com/autocross-101/

Scoring will be based on a best of 6 of 10 events format. Scoring within each of the above superclasses will be based on PAX/RTP of the applicable class. All of the day’s count as a single event except practice events.  There is a minimum requirement of at least one scored event at each venue to qualify in the Championship.

Sound Policy
We have a strict sound policy; The measurement will be taken at a point where the vehicle can reasonably be expected to be under load at full throttle. The measuring point will be 50 feet from the edge of the course using an ANSI Type 2 sound meter set to “A” weighting, “Slow” response. The microphone will be placed 3-4 feet above ground level, positioned perpendicular to vehicle direction of travel. Measurement will be taken at a minimum of 1 sound station but usually 2, rules apply for both stations.

If a vehicle registers a reading between 96.0-97.9dB the driver(s) will be given a courtesy warning that they are near the limit.

If a vehicle registers a reading at 98.0dB or greater the driver must make a mechanical change to the vehicle (ex. install a turn-down1, install a silencer, close an exhaust valve(s)2 etc.), the mechanical change must be shown to and accepted by the Event Chair or other SASC Executive member prior to the next run. A “mechanical delay” is permissible to make this change. If during the next run the driver(s) registers a second reading at 93.0dB or greater that vehicle will not be allowed to continue running (for both drivers in case of a two driver car).

Vehicles that register below the 97.9dB maximum in the measured section(s) of the course but are found to be excessively loud (eg. exhaust backfire, tire squeal etc.) in other sections of the course may also not be allowed to continue running if so deemed by the Event Chair or other SASC Executive member.

Please note that this also applies to showroom stock vehicles, we are aware that there are a very small handful of unmodified cars (ex. Porsche 911 GT3 and Ford Mustang 350R) that can exceed the 97.9dB maximum, these vehicles must still adhere to the sound policy.

Our sound policy is based on the SCCA’s which can be found in Appendix 1 of the rules located here: https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

1. Turndowns can only be installed pointing directly upwards, downwards, or rearwards. Turndowns pointing the tip 90° away from the sound meter is not allowed.
2. Exhaust valves that are adjustable electronically via the push of a button inside the vehicle are acceptable.

Rules & Regulations
•   No alcohol or drugs at the venue, zero tolerance .
