Sunday July 16th – an all-day Porsche Immersion Vineyard Region Event – 200 miles of driving, the best Porsche cars and coffee hosted by Porsche itself at their $50 million dollar Experience Center in Carson California and a nice lunch and admission to one of the finest Automotive museums in the country, Peterson Museum, for a special 75th anniversary Porsche exhibit of fifty important historical vehicles.

First Stop- the Famous Porsche Experience Center Cars and Coffee – known as the “Morning Shift”.

NOTE: (you must be driving a Porsche to join our group).

We will gather at the parking lot of BJ’s Restaurant and the Batter Up bakery at 6:15 am – with the plan to leave at 6:30 am arriving at PECLA at around 8am; where we will line up with the other 300 plus Porsche’s waiting for the gate to open at 9 am for the Morning Shift Cars and Coffee monthly event.

This monthly event attracts hundreds of Porsche vehicles of every age, model and color and is a true Porsche overload style event – walking the line of cars before the gates open is also part of the fun. There will be million-dollar cars as well as $5,000 Porsche vehicles all gathered- side by side.

If you have not visited the Porsche Experience Center (located in Carson California) or PECLA – every Porsche fan should visit this this Porsche Center at least once. There are only two of these Centers in the country. We are lucky enough to be less than 100 miles away!

The Center houses unique Porsche vehicles on display and a Porsche factory race car maintenance facility (behind a large glass wall for viewing), a walk-up snack shop and an upscale restaurant on the second floor overlooking the 2-mile racetrack and there is a racetrack and skid pads that can be viewed from the upstairs balcony.  The Center maintains a fleet of new Porsche vehicles and offers two hour driving experiences with a Professional driving coach that anyone can reserve (I suggest doing this on a weekday when the Center is calmer).  There is a sophisticated racing simulator room with ten driving machines that will test your driving skills in the Porsche of your choice and on the racetrack of your selection ($25 for 30 minutes). The center also offers a lap experience for $100 that is designed to showcase the actual handling abilities of typically a GT3 with a professional driver at the wheel. You can sign up for this when you arrive if you wish with the Centers hosts. I would leave an actual driving experience to another visit as we have a second Porsche event planned to start at 11 am. I am trying to get a host to give our group a tour of the Center and give us some insights to this unique home of Porsche.

The center does offer coffee and breakfast sandwiches under canopies in the parking lot area where all the cars are parked.  But— keep in mind that at our next destination, there is a planned lunch included in this event fee at noon. Just walking around to see the variety of Porsche vehicles, this amazing Porsche Center and conversing with other Porsche fans makes this trek the gold standard of Porsche cars and coffee events in Southern California. Well worth getting up early on the morning of July 16 if you are a fellow Porsche fan. You will meet people that have traveled long distances to visit this one of only two factories built and managed Centers- we are lucky enough to only have to drive 80 miles.

The cars start lining up along the road leading up to the PECLA gate as early as 7am to 8 am in preparation for the gates opening at 9 am sharp. The outside line of cars is a Porsche “scene” that is part of the fun also – with the driver’s and co-pilots walking up and down the length of parked cars asking questions and taking videos and enjoying the variety of cars waiting to drive into the PECLA parking lot.

The large Porsche retail shop inside the Center extends a 10% discount on any of their items with proof of your membership in PCA.

Cars start leaving the PECLA around 10:30 and most have left by 11 am. Our group will leave around this time as well and drive 30 minutes away to our second Porsche event of the day – The Peterson Automotive Museum’s Special Exhibit to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Porsche. The Museum has gathered around fifty important vehicles to illustrate the unique evolution of the Porsche sports car.

I have arranged a group Lunch (included) at the Museum’s in-house sit-down restaurant Meyers Manx, before we visit the Museum (admission included in this event fee of $50 a person).  Your event fee of $50 provides for your choice of many different lunch items, beverage and the tip for the wait staff as well. You will also get a 10% discount on anything bought in the Museum store. Parking is $17 in their underground secure parking garage and is not included. We are getting discounted group tickets for the Museum’s main three floors and the Porsche Exhibit.

If you wish to visit the Museum’s basement of historical cars, not on display in the main museum currently, known as the famous “vault”, you can purchase a ticket for access on your own.

This is a temporary event.

Everyone can head back to Temecula on their own schedule after visiting the museum which is three stories of an amazing collection of vehicles that will keep any car fan occupied for hours. You could also visit the world-famous Los Angeles Farmer’s market which is just down the street if you want an additional activity to close out the day.
