Join us on Saturday, April 14, for a private tour of the Mount Wilson Observatory and facilities. The day will begin with a spirited run along the Angeles Crest Highway to the Observatory followed by an extensive tour of the site.
If you’re interested in science, history, engineering, astronomy or our place in the cosmos, you won’t want to miss the opportunity for this tour. The Observatory is a true landmark of humanity’s curiosity and desire to understand the universe, and for the first half of the 20th Century, Mount Wilson was the most famous observatory in the world. This is where modern cosmology began.
Please note: The approximately 2-hour tour involves about a mile of walking and climbing some stairs.

Starting Location: Tujunga, CA 91042
Meet & Greet: 8:00AM
Driver's Brief & Route Review: 8:30AM
Depart for Fun Run: 9:00AM
The Fun Run will end at the Red Box Picnic area; folks who are registered for the guided tour will continue up Mt Wilson Red Box Road to the Observatory lot.
Those continuing on to the Observatory Guided Tour will regroup in the Observatory lot at approximately 10:00 AM; Observatory tours begin at 10:30.
Once you have registered, you will receive the address of the starting point on the confirmation page, and a couple of days prior to this run, an email will be sent to all registrants with the detailed route description.
Registration for this event is required, along with the number and names of your guests. We will need an accurate headcount.
Registration details:
Members may register for either the Fun Run + Guided Tour or Fun Run Only.
$10 per car event fee (one fee per car, covers either the Fun Run or the Fun Run + Guided Tour)
$18 per person for the docent-led tour of the Mt Wilson Observatory

PS:
Those who want a longer day in the Angeles National Forest area may want to choose to enjoy an ad hoc brunch at Newcombs Ranch or one of restaurants down the hill in the La Canada/Flintridge area. While brunch is not a PCA-LA-organized activity for this event, it can be a great way to extend the drive and the day.

On the next page, if this is your first time registering with PCA Los Angeles region, please enter your PCA membership number and region of record (if you have one.)
On the following registration form, you will be able to register for either the Fun Run and Observatory Guided Tour or just the Fun Run. Guests are permitted for the guided tour — please use the form to indicate the number of guests as well as the name(s) of your guests, if applicable. A tour fee is required for each guest.
Remember, if you are confirmed for the observatory guided tour portion of the event, you will be responsible for acquiring a valid National Parks recreation pass to park in the Mt Wilson Observatory lot. Also, members can choose to do either the Fun Run + Guided Tour or only the Fun Run.
