About this event
Originally established by President Grover Cleveland in 1888 and dedicated as a US Army Fort from 1914 to 1977. Its mission was to protect the Port and the surrounding Los Angeles area from attacks by sea and air with guns and missiles. http://www.ftmac.org/Fmhist.htm
Join us on Saturday, July 8 for a tour of Palos Verdes including the LA Maritme Museum, Cabrillo Aquarium, Point Fermin Park, White Point Royal Palms Beach Park, Portuguese Bend Landslide, Point Vicente Lighthouse, the Radar Domes, etc. and ending at The Old Fort MacArthur Museum for the celebration of Old Fort MacArthur Days. http://www.ftmac.org/ofmd.htm
We will meet at Ports of Call Village, in front of the San Pedro Fish Market, 1190 Nagoya Way, San Pedro, CA 90731 at 8:00, departing at 9:00 sharp and have a scenic tour around the Palos Verdes Peninsula before arriving at the Museum, 3601 So. Gaffey St., San Pedro, CA 90731.
Sites along the way will be the LA Maritime Museum, Cabrillo Aquarium, White Point Royal Palms Beach Park for tide pools, the Portuguese Bend Landslide, Wayfarer's Chapel and the radar Domes at the top of the peninsula.
Museum admission is $15 payable at the gate. Parking is free. Food and drinks are available on the grounds or bring a picnic lunch.
$10.00 Donation for our Charity, the Children's Dental Health Clinic is requested and will be collected with registration at the starting point.
