OVR SCCA Solo 2022 - PAX Challenge #2

Fortress Obetz

About this event

PAX Challenge Event

PAX Challenge Events are planned for 2022 as evening events. These events are abbreviated events that will run until approximately 10pm. There will be a registration limit of 70 drivers. The event schedule is modified so please ensure that you know the schedule ahead of time.

Registration closes at 6pm the day before the event!

Welcome to the Ohio Valley Region of the SCCA
[Website]  [Facebook]

All registration is pre-registration. There will be no walk-up registration.

Autocross, or "Solo," is a timed contest of driving skill. Speeds and hazards to spectators, participants, and property do not exceed those found in normal, legal highway driving. We think it is much more fun than street driving and you can't get a speeding ticket! Best of all, you can enter in your everyday street car!

Come join us at Fortress in Obetz. The site has great pavement that performs well even in the rain. It is a full facility site (restroom access, good viewing spots, grassy areas and a fenced in lot) that offers great course designs and the ability offer a safe operating environment. It is also reasonably close to local restaurants and sometimes offers food trucks for the events.

Safety is a high priority at our events and we request that all participant adhere to all safety rules and regulations. See our registration requirements for all necessary safety statements.

Car classing is done according SCCA PAX/RTP guidelines. If you are unsure of your car class please email ovrsoloreg@gmail.com for assistance. Here is a guide that may help you select your car class as well: SCCA Car Classifier

All cars require numbers and class designations. Minimum number height should be at least 8" with class indicators being a minimum of 4". Masking tape may be used. All number/class indicators need to be of a contrasting color and placed in an easily visible side panel of the car so that course workers can easily see them.

***Your SCCA Member#, First & Last Name MUST match your national SCCA Membership exactly***

***IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PARENTS: Minor waivers require signatures from BOTH parents. Minor waivers are required for minors that will be in "hot zones" at the event (i.e. grid, course). A separate spectator viewing area away from the hot zones will be marked, which will not require a waiver to occupy.

The minor waiver form is available here: http://ovr-scca.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/SCCA_Minor_SCCA_Official_1068_09_15.pdf

If you need to have parents sign at separate times it can be done via the Notarized form found here: http://ovr-scca.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/SCCA_Minor_SCCA_Official_1068_09_15.pdf

As you will learn, Autocrosses can range from simply a day and a time to hang out with friends to running national events that are very competitive. The amounts of money people spend preparing their cars also range significantly. At most events, you will see some very well-prepared cars that use special autocross tires (the tires have a softer rubber compound that heats up very quickly, and really sticks to the pavement) to people simply using their ordinary daily commuter street tires.

It can be extremely tempting to go out and buy some of these go-fast parts, but don’t spend your money now! Do a few more autocross events with your car as-is and get as much seat time as possible. Seat time is the best driver mod that you can do.

If you really want to do something to upgrade your car, go out and buy some better street tires after the ones you currently have on your car are worn out. If you intend to participate in high performance driving events in the near future, consider buying an inexpensive extra set of rims for these tires. The best thing you can do to decrease your lap times is to focus on learning as much as you possibly can about race driving techniques.
