New Member, General Membership Meeting

I invite you to a special event PCA-Milwaukee Region will be holding on Saturday, April 18th at the Delafield Brewhaus, 3832 Hillside Drive, Delafield, WI, to kick off the driving season.  It’s billed as both a general membership meeting and a new-member welcome dinner.  New members (“new” being defined as those joining PCA in 2019, or thus far in 2020; you’ll have a membership number starting with one of those two numbers), will be able to get a half-price dinner (read, we really want new members to join us there!).

 

We plan to have the leaders of each committee (e.g., Tour, Rally, DE, Concours, Tech Session, Autocross, Social Committees, etc.) there to greet attendees, inform them of what their committee has planned for this, our special 60th Anniversary year, and to answer any questions you might have. 

 

After dinner, we have two informative and interesting speakers lined up.  You may not be aware that there was sportscar racing in Wisconsin before there was a closed circuit called Road America.  Some of this racing took place on the streets in Elkhart Lake, and on the roads around the town in the early 1950s.  Shortly after road racing was prohibited by the state, Road America was begun.  Our first speaker will be John Calhoun, Chairman of Historic Race Circuits Preservation Society.  John will speak briefly and introduce a 12-minute video showing snippets of early races.  Our second speaker, Ron Pace, will need no introduction to long-time members of the Milwaukee Region.  Ron is the newly elected Board Chairman of Road America.  He’s also a long-time Porsche racer, and our region’s Chief Driving Instructor.  Ron will talk about the genesis of Road America and the early years of racing there.

 

Again, all members are invited to what should prove to be an enjoyable evening, as we kick off a new driving season.  A special invitation is extended to new members.  Please attend and discover what PCA-Milwaukee Region is all about.  Watch for event details which will be presented on our website and elsewhere in this issue of Steinlifters.  I sincerely hope to see you there!  Don’t forget to bring your 60th Anniversary Passport, or pick one up there.
