About this event

AMR 48 Hours of La Junta

May 10th-11thth, 2014

Sponsored by GT Racing

That’s right; the Alpine Mountain Region has moved the La Junta Drivers Education event to the Spring this year. La Junta is a great track for drivers who are new to DE events and for veterans to get back in the groove and hone their skills. In honor of Mother’s Day, AMR is offering discounted registration for mothers.

About an hour east of Pueblo, Colorado, La Junta Raceway offers sunny skies and lots of track time. Since it’s only 4,238 feet of elevation, you’ll experience a little more horsepower. Like Sebring International Raceway, La Junta Raceway used to be a multi-engine bomber training base in WWII before being converted to a road racing circuit. La Junta’s 1.2-mile track’s seven turns, minimal elevation changes and relaxed environment make this event perfect for first-time drivers looking to find out what it’s like to drive on a real race track. Experienced drivers will love the track's character and the generous amount of track time.

As usual, we'll meet at Boss Hogg's Restaurant on Friday evening May 9th at 6 pm. We'll enjoy good food and beer and after dinner our chief driving instructor Chris Lennon will lead us through Ground School. Chris' presentation is mandatory for first timers and is a great refresher for veterans.

Saturday morning, the gates open at 7:00 and AMR will provide coffee and breakfast finger foods. A mandatory drivers meeting for all attendees is at 8:00 am. Saturday night dinner will be at Mexico City Café! AMR is paying for dinner and soft drinks. You pay for beer and Margaritas. Your registration fee also includes a commemorative long sleeve t-shirt. Beer-thirty beverages will be provided at the end of each day thanks to Aspen Auto Clinic.

2014 is AMR’s 39th year at the La Junta Raceway and we’d love see you there!
