A day-long driving tour through Southcentral Pennsylvania
Mark your calendars! Saturday, October 12th! Only 1 month until the fall foliage color emerges for us and Das Herbstfahrt commences. As always, for this all-day 275+ miles drive, we will utilize Scenic navigation for iPhones and send out GPX files for Android just before the event. Written directions will also be provided, but it may be a bit hard to read through all the curves!
Launching from the Latrobe Airport parking lot at 8:30 am, we’ll head southeast into Forbes State Park, then over to Somerset, and travel north into Gallitzin. We will enjoy lunch at Marzoni’s in far north Altoona, then take advantage of the winding roads along Clearfield Creek and the west branch of the Susquehanna River.
The tour will drop south following the Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway, passing Fort Necessity, and head east on the Lincoln Highway to the original Vallozzi’s in Greensburg for libations and dinner. The route will end a bit earlier this year to accommodate folks having dinner and traveling back home. Expected Vallozzi’s arrival is approximately between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm….dependent on our ability to restrain ourselves through the twisties and rolling hills!

The driver safety meeting starts at 8:15 AM, First cars off at 8:30 AM.

Please top-off your fuel prior to the event.
Entry Fee is $50 per car
Price includes ONE lunch at Marzoni's Brick Oven in Altoona.
Passenger Lunch Fee is $20
Alcoholic beverages and dinner at Vallozzi's Restaurant are on-your-own.
Registration is mandatory
