About this event
This is a short class for SCCA, CVAR, and NASA corner marshals and COTA employees about how to safely respond to on track incidents. The day is divided into 3 segments:
- An interactive presentation from COTA Senior Manager of Track Operations and Safety, Roy Spielman, on the proper way to respond to an incident.
- A discussion on what not to wear when working as a marshal and the latest developments in flame retardant clothing suitable for corner workers,
- Hands on use of a fire extinguisher on a burning automobile.
Morning Coffee and lunch will be provided courtesy of our sponsors, SCCA, CVAR, NASA-Texas and Circuit of the Americas.
Event requirements
Participants will be required to sign waivers, those who wish to participate in the fire extinguisher training should be over the age of 18.
Clothing:
You must wear
- Long pants,
- a long sleeved shirt or jacket,
- socks,
- closed toe, sturdy shoes
to participate in the hands on fire extinguisher training segment.
Attendance is limited to 60 people in order for everyone to have a safe, quality experience, If more than 60 people register, the officers and management of the sponsoring organizations will select and approve attendees from among those registered. You will be notified approximately 10 days prior to the event if your registration was approved.
