2024 Geo Tour-Landscapes of the Ice Age Floods

About this event

This two day tour will be an incredible opportunity to experience the unique geological features and landscapes from the Ice Age Floods in the Lower Columbia Basin and areas near Grand Coulee Dam. Led by a Washington State Licensed Geologist and Porsche aficionado, learn about these magnificent features and the tremendous forces that created them.

On day one, the tour will begin in Pasco; traveling north to Scooteney State Park, Drumheller Channels, lunching in Royal City enroute to Vantage and the Ginko Petrified Forest State Park Interpretive Center. We will then drive to Frenchman Coulee and lastly view the impressive Crescent Bar Dunes west of Quincy.  Participants will then be led on a 36-mile tour to dinner venue in Wenatchee.

We will finish the day with dinner at the Residence Inn, Wenatchee. Evening dining is included in the registration fee of $75 which covers a buffet, no-host bar service, and a gratuity.

Lodging is not included in the registration fee and participants are responsible for making their hotel reservations wherever they choose. The Residence Inn has 15 rooms blocked out that must be reserved by Wednesday, March 20 before they are released to the very busy spring tourist season. The hotel website is:

Day two begins with driving from Wenatchee towards Grand Coulee Dam, viewing surficial features from the Ice Age Floods, visiting Sun Lake-Dry Falls State Park Interpretive Center, and Steamboat Rock State Park. We'll lunch in Grand Coulee City before returning to the Tri Cities. Participants from Spokane may find this a convenient point to leave the tour to return home. En route to the Tri Cities additional Ice Age Flood features will be seen and described.

Event requirements

Tour Requirements:

  • Cancelations and refunds:  Cancelations accepted until April 13th.. 
  • Car club membership:  To participate you must be a current member of the PCA as of the date of registration.  Porsche owners who are not members may register directly with the tour chair and receive a special invitation on a case-by-case basis.
  • Non-Porsches on the Tour:  P-Cars only on this tour please
  • Waiver signing for Adult participants and attendees:  All drivers and passengers must sign the Liability waiver at the start point so find your group leader for the waiver sheet
  • Age and driver's license restrictions:  All drivers must be at least 18 years old and in possession of a valid US driver's license at the time of the Tour.  A driving permit is not acceptable.  For participants under 18 years old, at least one parent or legal guardian must also sign a separate waiver form (Minors as Observers Only).  The parent or legal guardian must be present at the start point to sign the waiver in person.
  • Registering for Passengers:  Please make sure to include the names of any passengers riding with you in the space provided during registration.  If you have two cars on the tour, each car and driver must register with a separate MotorsportReg account.
