2014 Tire Town SCR Autocross Championship #5

North Charleston Coliseum

About this event

South Carolina Region SCCA

Event Description

The impossible is possible - we're back at North Charleston Coliseum!  For those of you who remember the old days, we used to run here a couple times a year.  Then they built a road right through our paddock, and it seemed as though the site was lost forever.  But SCR doesn't give up that easy, and with a little creative planning WE'RE BACK!  Here's how it's going to work:

1.  There will be two run "sessions," one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  This is because we don't have enough room to paddock everyone all day.
2.  Pre-registration is required and will be capped at 140.
3.  Registration will close the Wednesday before the event in order to give the T&S crew time to figure out who's going to run in the morning and who's going to run in the afternoon.

By now I'm sure your Speed Racer minds are reeling with the possibilities!  Before you overheat, here are some of the answers you may be looking for:

Q: Will I run in the morning or the afternoon?
A: We don't know yet.  After registration closes we'll take a look at the number of drivers in each class and work out the run groups and sessions.  Once we have those in hand, we'll email everyone to let them know if they are running in the morning or in the afternoon. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IS CORRECT IN MOTORSPORTREG. You can do so by clicking on your name after you've signed in to view and edit your profile.

Q: Do I have to be there in the morning to check in and tech even if I'm not running until the afternoon?
A: No, we'll have check-in and tech in both the morning and the afternoon.

Q: If I win my class in the morning do I have to wait around until the afternoon to get my award?
A: No, we'll do awards at the end of both sessions.

Q: I like to sleep in on the weekends - can I request to run in the afternoon?
A: No.  Just like with a regular schedule, you'll run with your run group, whenever that will be.  Bonus: you'll get an email a day or two ahead of time telling you to report for either the morning or the afternoon session.  So half the field will get to sleep in.

Anyone with a valid US drivers license, or anyone running in our Jr. Kart Series (ages 8-15), is welcome to participate.  Drivers under the age of 18 MUST have an SCCA Minor Waiver printed IN COLOR, signed by BOTH parents and notarized.  The form may be printed and signed in advance from the SCCA web site, but MUST be printed in color:  http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/Documents/Club%20Forms/MinorReleaseFormMS-L_W_Program.pdf

If you register and later find out you cannot make it, please let us know ASAP by cancelling your registration or by emailing Kelly at kelly@scsportscar.com so we can give your slot to someone else.  WE WILL ONLY ISSUE CREDITS OR REFUNDS TO THOSE WHO CANCEL ON OR BEFORE REGISTRATION CLOSES.

Rules

On Site Registration

  • No on-site registration will be accepted for this event.  Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, July 9th .
  • Pre-registered drivers must still check in at the registration table upon arrival.

Sound Control and Event Conduct

  • The sound limit for this event will be 99 dBA at 50 feet from the edge of the course.  Cars with open exhausts that have not been checked for sound recently should consider coming prepared to make modifications (in many cases a downturn will help tremendously) in case you exceed the sound limit on your first run. We will not allow any car to continue if it has two consecutive readings over 99 dBA. See the SCR Solo Supplemental Rules for further details.
  • Please note that even though our rules already prohibit any kind of reckless behavior, we need to be especially careful this weekend about burnouts, excessive acceleration or noise when leaving the site, and other things that will draw unwanted attention to ourselves. Thanks for understanding!

Number Format

  • For single driver, single class cars only one- or two-digit numbers will be allowed (0 - 99). If desired, drivers of the same car but in different classes (i.e., open and ladies) may use the same car number.
  • Where there are two drivers in one car, in one class, then the second driver will be 100 plus the first driver's number (i.e., 99 and 199).
