VEHICLE INSPECTION: Your vehicle should arrive at the track in a safe condition. Our inspection at the track is minimal and mostly visual. When you arrive at the track remove ALL loose objects from the interior, trunk, glove box, and other compartments before inspection. We will help you check wheel lug nuts and discuss proper tire pressures while inspecting your vehicle.
While YOU are responsible for the safe operation and safe mechanical condition of your vehicle, it is recommended that you have your vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic. Emphasis should be on the following items:
_____ Tires: Good condition, no cracks or bulges, street tires rated U (120 MPH) or higher and have at 3/32nds tread depth. NO CORDS showing at any time.
_____ Brakes: More than adequate pad or lining material, fluid changed within last six months and bled shortly before the event. Fluid must not be dark in color. All brake lines must be in good condition.
_____ Brake lights must function adequately. It is suggested all lights function.
_____ Wheels: No damage, lugs tightened to manufacturer spec, wheel bearings correctly adjusted.
_____ Suspension & steering: Springs and shocks OK. Nothing loose.
_____ Windshield: No dangerous cracks or scratches. Good wipers.
_____ Windows: Both front windows can go down. No dangerous cracks.
_____ Exhaust: In good condition. Must exit behind the driver. Noise limit is 103db.
_____ Body: No excessive rust, loose panels, tire rub, and there must be adequate ground clearance.
_____ Tops: All cars must have a hardtop. Sunroofs and t-tops must be securely fastened or removed.
Convertibles are allowed providing there is an approved roll bar and the tops are securely fastened in their fully up or down position. Convertibles not meeting these safety requirements can run in the “controlled speed” group.
_____ Engine compartment: No fluid leaks, belts and hoses tight and contain no cracks, battery securely fastened, positive terminal covered, good fluid levels.
_____ Interior: All loose items must be removed prior to going on track. Seats and belts must be secure and show no damage which would limit their safety functions. Pedals should be firm with a strong return and no obstructions. Remove floor mats. At least one rearview mirror.
_____ Helmet: Snell 2005 or newer in good condition.
If the inspection is performed by a professional mechanic prior to the event they should initial each item approved and attach a copy of the worksheet from their place of business. Participants arriving at the event with this tech form properly completed and worksheet attached will be expedited through the tech process.
Any car which is judged to be in an unsafe operating condition at any time during the event will be prohibited from further participation until the deficiency is corrected.
