Audi Club Northwest 2014 Board Election

Audi Club NA - Northwest Chapter

Aug 12, 2014 - Aug 24, 2014

The current terms of three Board of Trustee positions expire at the end of the Quattrofest event in November 2014.  Audi Club Northwest Bylaws require that candidates for open positions stand for election by the membership prior to the end of August each year.

We have four declared candidates for three positions, and their Candidate Statements are presented for you to review as part of the voting process.  Please read them all prior to voting.

While you are not required to vote yes or no for all four candidates, please make sure you do cast a yes vote for up to three candidate(s) you want to manage the club's business and to represent you for the next two years.

If you have any difficulty with this process please contact John Ewald (john.ewald@mac.com, 206-465-8370).  Your membership information is being validated automatically by the system in the background.  If some portion of that data has not been updated correctly or was delayed for some reason there is a chance that you will be restricted from completing the voting process.  We want to fix any issues and ensure that everyone who wants to vote gets to vote if they are eligible.  Contact John if you have ANY struggle with this electronic process.  He can update membership expirations, email addresses, etc.

Your vote is completely private and secure.  It is not possible for any Audi Club Northwest or Audi Club North America personnel to request or see any voting data.  There are no names listed or reported.  The results are independently certified by MotorsportReg/Pukka Software management and reported to the Audi Club Northwest Board.

Thank you for being a member and participating in Audi Club Northwest!

Yes.  I am a girl and I like to drive fast – just like most of you.  That is why we spend days preparing our cars, getting up at dawn and possibly sitting for hours in rush hour traffic just to spend the weekend driving with club members.  I wake up with anticipation and  excitement to see my ACNW family.  At the beginning of this month,  I had the pleasure of having our own Derek Sanderson (an excellent instructor) in my right seat at Strassenlage.  I told him I wanted to continue to be challenged.  Truly Derek took me for my word as he challenged me to push it here, pull back there, and use the whole track. I found myself driving smoother and faster. Because I contribute as an instructor and the event master for Son of Quattrofest, this experience really highlighted for me that we are always working to get better, striving to be better, in everything that is important.

Over the last two years on the board I have seen us come together and develop stronger relationships with our sponsors, track managers, vendors and others.  We brought consistency to each event and we have worked to add more social and driving events to engage our membership.  We have promoted our drivers skills clinic to teens, provided new and exciting social tours, rented out theatres in both Seattle and Portland to attend the opening night of the Movie RUSH, just to name a few of the results of this board’s efforts. And we continue to fine tune our track events to help them deliver driver skill development and real fun for all our members.

I want to stay on the board as we strive to do better and “BE” better.   I will continue to spread the word about ACNW and share my passion for driving, especially with teens and women.  We are a community in which we sincerely care about each other.  We are family, and I like that.

Thank you for your confidence in me, and your vote!

I'm a diehard gear head and love to share that motoring and racing passion with others.

I've been involved with anything that could race from as early as a plywood hydroplane on a string tied behind my Schwinn racing around the neighborhood, to being an ardent F1, Rally and MotoGP fan now.  In between there has been 1/10 scale radio control cars at local and international level to driving and co-driving in SCCA Rally, and now Audi Club Northwest HPDE's and volunteering time.

My oldest daughter was driving three weeks before she participated in her first driver skills event and that showed the level of education available to ACNW members. It also made me want to get more involved with the club not only to help but to also meet other people enjoying their vehicles in a safe but spirited manner.

My hope in receiving your vote is to bring some of my Motoring passion to the club.  I've had the privilege of serving as a board member for other nonprofit charities and organizations and understand the commitments.  I will bring this motoring passion and past experience to help enhance and grow ACNW to a larger reach in driver education, donations and fun in the community.

For as long as I can remember, I have been an Audi fanatic. I bought my very first Audi (1997 A3 1.9 TDI) in the Netherlands in 2001, and am now driving my fourth – a black 2009 S5 4.2L V8.  Anyone who knows me will be able to tell you I’m passionate about Audi.  My car is my baby, but my passion goes well beyond that.  For me, Audi is about a community of passionate and loyal drivers for whom this community is a core part of their lives.

I have often wondered about what it would be like to race cars.  I’ve always enjoyed driving fast and the feeling of being pushed in my seat.  As a woman, however, it never felt like something I could pursue.  Having recently done my first track day at MAMDS, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve been missing out!  More importantly, I’m realizing that there may be many other women out there who are passionate about driving, and who are interested in dipping their toes into performance driving, but need a little nudge.

I want to share my passion for Audi, and I would especially like to encourage more women to sign up for the wonderful events that Audi Club Northwest organizes. As a board member, I will focus on building and strengthening our community, and help with organizing the events we all keep coming back for. Thanks for your vote!

Finally, a chance to speak to you all without the likely interruption of geese, military aircraft drills, trains, or a bullhorn that seems to have the tone of my voice!

Thank you - Thank you for two incredible years of serving on your Board of Trustees.  During this time I have met many of you, taught you new things, and learned from you (on and off the track); celebrated with you, and changed with you.  You have taught me the true meaning of community, shared your adventures with me, and trusted me in your right seat.  It has been an honor every day!

Since I joined the Board you have helped to create one of the best drivers education programs in the Pacific Northwest and in doing so you have allowed us to pursue our mission in a way I couldn't have imagined two years ago.  You inspire me with your passion for always creating a better club and better community.  Together we have enjoyed some of the most fun, safe, and educational events around - and we lead the Audi Club nationwide as a result.  I would like the chance to continue to lead, to grow, and to learn from you for another two years.
