<p> As we get back to running at ACU-4 and have higher numbers of competitors at our events it becomes more and more difficult to fairly and consistently distribute competitors across 4, 5 or even 6 heats.&nbsp; One solution to the issue is to switch from running by number to running by class. This would put all of the competitors in each class running in the same heat.&nbsp; This eliminates weather variations from providing an advantage or disadvantage to an competitors in the class.</p> <p> The staff at the event would try to ensure that the same classes do not run in the same heat at every event.&nbsp; The computer is capable of balancing the class distribution as evenly as possible and then the staff can tweak if it has put the same class in the same heat multiple events.</p> <p> <em>Note:&nbsp; Novices would run with the regular class not as a group.&nbsp; This prevents having a large number of novices working the course at the same time.</em></p>
