Introducing the 2026-2027 ARPCA Officer Candidates

Candidate for President:   Linda Monteverde Scanlon

I am honored and humbled to be nominated for President of the ARPCA.

I came to cherish the Porsche Brand as the spouse of a lifelong 911 enthusiast.  Our involvement with PCA events fostered meaningful friendships as I gained an appreciation in the beauty of these cars.  With his passing, I continued ownership and purchased a 2017 911 Carrera Cabriolet.  However, I realized this car might require more care than I knew about. To be a responsible owner, I needed guidance. The best way to do so would be joining the ARPCA.

The membership welcomed me, offering advice and sharing car knowledge. There were opportunities to gather with other like-minded enthusiasts and strong encouragement to establish a women’s group within the club.  I enjoy the social gatherings, attend the monthly board meetings as a committee member, volunteer for the PVGP weekend, and sign up for as many of the group drives as possible.  There is still a lot more that I need to experience within the club.

As president, I would like to see women participate in more club activities: social, track, group drives, and leadership.  The Women’s group will continue.  This is a wealth of energy and ideas waiting to be tapped.  I would like to explore opportunities to showcase the ARPCA as a welcoming and giving organization within our Allegheny Region community.  Along with the other committee members, our goal will be to keep the Club moving forward with members satisfied and engaged in Club activities and the ARPCA fiscally sound.

The Club has become a big part of my life. Ownership of these cars (I added a Macan in 2022) has brought me wonderful friendships and a respect for the craftsmanship and engineering of this brand. I am thankful to be a member and hope to add to the Club’s continued growth and success.

Candidate for Vice President:  Paul Pigman

I am honored to announce my candidacy for the position of Vice President of our club.

I joined the Porsche Club of America in 2003 after purchasing a 1992, guards red, RS America.  I purchased the car after my brother-in-law let me drive his RS America at a PCA drivers education event at Summit Point Raceway in WV.  I was HOOKED!  I traded in my BMW M5 for a Cayenne Turbo for my spouse Kate, and I bought the RS for me and immediately started participating in track and club social events. From 2012 t0 217 I shared the Chief Instructor duties with Drake Core.

Even though I am a confessed “Track Rat” (Thank you Frank Bresz) I have been instrumental in securing financial sponsors for the club, supported special events and helping to create a defined approval process for charitable donations. I will apply my leadership experience in both business, community and charitable organizations to our club.

I look forward to helping increase member engagement: whether you are a seasoned track driver or someone who enjoys leisurely scenic drives, there needs to be something for everyone. I further believe we need to continue to support and find new partnerships with local businesses and organizations who can provide valuable resources and opportunities for our members.

I am excited about the opportunity to serve and contribute to the continued success of our club.

Candidates for Treasurer:    Peter Zafris           and           Jim Kaufman

Pete:

My love affair with Porsche ignited in childhood, sparked the moment my dad rolled up in a sleek, white Porsche 356 C coupe. As a young lad, I’d scramble into the snug back seat with my brother, our eyes wide with awe. This wasn’t just a car—it was a rocket ship compared to the mundane sedans clogging our neighbors’ driveways. The engine’s primal roar enveloped us, vibrating through our bones like a symphony of raw power. We’d sneak into the garage, clamber into that cozy rear seat, and lose ourselves in make-believe adventures, surrounded by the car’s intoxicating scent of leather and fuel. It was pure magic.

Then came my older brother’s blazing orange 914—a firecracker on wheels that sealed my fate. I was utterly, irrevocably hooked. The ultimate thrill arrived when my dad handed me the keys to a 1979 Mexico Blue 911 Sportomatic. As a teenager, I wasn’t just excited—I was electrified! That car was freedom, rebellion, and pure adrenaline wrapped in a stunning blue shell. Every twist of the key unleashed a surge of joy that’s never faded.

Today, my Porsche saga continues with a razor-sharp 911 and a dynamic Macan T, each drive a pulse-pounding celebration of engineering artistry. My passion led me to the Porsche Club, where I found a tribe of fellow enthusiasts who live for the thrill of the ride. As my family dove deeper into local club events, I knew I had to give back. That’s why I’m stepping up to serve as Treasurer of our local chapter. I’m all in—ready to work hard, drive fast, and celebrate life with every one of you, from lifelong members to new faces. Here’s to chasing curves, sharing stories, and living the Porsche dream together!

Jim:

I wanted to write a short note regarding my request to be the next treasurer for the club. I had a good meeting with Tom Uehling, and we went over the requirements of the position. It is a lot of work, but nothing too challenging. I am a Certified Public Accountant and previously owned my own CPA practice by the airport in Moon Township, where I also used QuickBooks® for about 20 years. Here is a little of my history related to the club: after selling my CPA practice, I purchased a marketing and printing company, MarketPlace Direct. One of our projects was printing ARCPA Magazine. That planted a seed, and when I later sold some rental properties in Florida, I decided to spoil myself and bought a Porsche 996. Cheryl and I flew to Boston for the purchase, which turned into a great road trip that included a vacation stop at Long Beach Island, New Jersey. I had the 996 for about six years, and a couple of years ago I found the perfect fit for my not-yet-full garage - a 991.2, black with a Bordeaux/black interior, equipped with all of my must haves: manual transmission, sport exhaust, and more. I rejoined the club at that point. My goal as treasurer? To do a good job, of course, but most importantly, to make some new friends.

Candidate for Secretary:  Michael Marrone

A warm greeting to my fellow ARPCA Members!  By way of introduction, I am a fairly new member of ARPCA and to the larger community of lucky Porsche owners.  My wife Amy and I joined PCA and ARPCA in 2022 when we held our breath, took a leap of faith, and purchased our first Porsche bidding sight unseen on a Sapphire Blue 981 GT4 which was languishing under a cover and in storage with only 1300 miles.  Back in 2016, I had watched Chris Harris take the GT4 through its paces at Portimao and became enthralled with the hope of one day enjoying this magical work of engineering art and science from the geniuses at Weissach.

I confess that it was my long-held dream that was realized with that winning bid though Amy has acquitted herself wonderfully as a faithful co-pilot.  We are "enthusiastic and spirited" participants on as many club drives as possible.  Amy is generally content to stay home on my Track Days - unless there is BBQ at PittRace afterwards!  However, she has the honor of naming the car, "LIGAYA", which translates to "JOY" in Amy's native Tagalog.  There could not be a more appropriate sobriquet.

Needless to say, Amy and I have both been welcomed so warmly by this community whether it be dancing through the twisties with Tour Meister Kevin in West Virginia, laughing under the tent with Tim at the Vintage Grand Prix, or learning how the "sausage is made" at the monthly Business Meetings.  In gratitude for all of these experiences, I feel drawn to contribute to the ongoing success of this wonderful community, and would feel honored to do so by serving as ARPCA Secretary.

Worth mentioning is that my career - Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Consulting - provides Amy and I with the privilege to live almost anywhere in the United States.  Yet, despite needing to adjust my sports allegiances away from the Yankees and Rangers, and having to accept that the long, dark winter months of Western Pennsylvania mean that we enjoy our Porsche for only half the year, Amy and I are resolved to stay in Pittsburgh for as long as this wonderful city will have us. Of course, part of that desire is because our time here is made ever more fulfilling by the friends we have made and the fun we have had with ARPCA.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to be of service to this community and to help continue the traditions of camaraderie, giving back, and, of course, the shared "LIGAYA" of driving our Porsches.  That makes ARPCA so special for all of us.
