Effective 2019 all drivers in classes allowing R Compound Tires, defined as BOTH DOT AND NON-DOT compliant racing tires (including, but not limited to, Hoosier A7, R7, Avon, Toyo R888R, etc), will be required to wear SFI certified Head and Neck Restraint (HANS) devices REGARDLESS OF WHAT TIRES THEY USE. All other drivers will be required to wear SFI 3.3 minimum rated foam neck supports/donuts.

HANS devices may be rented from www.motorsport-safety.org/initiatives/race-restraint.

RULES AND REGULATIONS YOU NEED TO KNOW This event is sanctioned by the Northwest Hillclimb Association (NHA). Please read their most up-to-date rules at www.nhahillclimb.org. A copy of these rules will be available at the tech location. NOTE: Any vehicle coming into a National Forest can potentially bring in “invasive species” (unwanted weeds/plants). Please wash all vehicles, especially motor homes and car trailers that usually sit for a while, paying special attention to the undersides of the vehicles, before bringing them up to the hill. NOTE: Please bring oil/fluid absorbent and sealed containers to remove any fuel or oil spills. All refueling MUST be done on the pavement. Take precautions and REMOVE ALL SPILLS from the site. NHA RULES: 1) Cars not licensed for the street are not allowed to be driven up and down the hill on reconnaissance runs. Only street legal vehicles are to be on the road to learn the hill. 2) NHA requests you join their organization prior to signing up for the hill. Go to their website and join online or send in a check before attempting to enter our event. NHA membership is $10 annually. 3) No alcohol is allowed at the hillclimb site.

LARISON ROCK SPECIFIC RULES: 1) Both at the hill and in the surrounding communities all participants and attendees shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively upon the NHA, EESCC, Larison Rock Hillclimb and the motorsports community at large. 2) 5 MPH speed limit in the pit area. 3) Speed limit on the rest of the hill except during timed runs is 25 MPH. 4) No practicing on the hill before or after the event. This will be grounds for disqualification if confirmed. Hill will be closed Sat & Sun at 6:30 A.M. 5) Please have pets on a leash for their and our safety. 6) No smoking is allowed at the hill except inside vehicles on the paved road. (Both and, not either/or.) This is a Forest Service requirement. 7) No open fires are allowed at the hill. 8) Camping and recreational vehicles are allowed in designated areas on the hill. Please turn off generators and any other noise sources by 10:00 pm. 9) All unauthorized persons must stay out of the timing area, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. 10) Only race cars are allowed in the pits due to limited space. Please put trailers and extra vehicles on side roads as designated on the hill map. 11) Cars must be parked in their assigned pits all day on race days, except when lining up to run.

CAR PREPARATION AND SAFETY REGULATIONS: 1) All entrant cars must have shoulder harnesses or straps in addition to the seat belts. Any car that has an aftermarket race seat or fixed back seat installed must have MINUMUM of a threepoint harness installed instead of stock belts. 2) All helmets must be Snell 2005 or better (Snell “SA” rated helmets are strongly encouraged). 3) Roll bars or roll cages are required in all open cars. Integrated roll bars (i.e. systems by Porsche and Corvette) are acceptable. Inflated or “pop-up” roll bars are not acceptable. Any competition vehicle using non-DOT approved racing slicks must have, at a minimum, a roll bar meeting 1975 or later GCR rules. The roll bar/cage must extend above the driver’s helmet 2″ or current GCR minimum, whichever is greater. All cars in SCCA Prepared or Modified classes must have a GCR legal roll bar or roll cage. This is in excess of the SCCA Solo rules. All cars is SPO/SPU classes must have a roll bar or roll cage as per GCR regulations from the year when the bar or cage was build/installed. 4) Entrants must wear LONG sleeve shirts and long pants made of cotton or Nomex during competition runs. Nomex driving suits meeting SFI 3.3 are highly recommended. Closed-toe shoes must be worn during all competition runs and it is recommended that the shoes be made of leather or other fire resistant material. 5) Effective 2019 all drivers in classes allowing R Compound Tires, defined as BOTH DOT AND NON-DOT compliant racing tires (including, but not limited to, Hoosier A7, R7, Avon, Toyo R888R, etc), will be required to wear SFI certified Head and Neck Restraint (HANS) devices REGARDLESS OF WHAT TIRES THEY USE. All other drivers will be required to wear SFI 3.3 minimum rated foam neck supports/donuts. Technical inspection will include verification of the SFI tag on donuts and HANS devices. a. A driver using a Neck Donut will be required to have a closed face helmet, as this is the only way the device is effective. b. A driver using a HANS-type device may wear a closed or open face helmet. c. HANS devices may be rented from www.motorsport-safety.org/initiatives/racerestraint. 6) Fire extinguishers of 5BC rating or fire systems are mandatory in all cars, and unless they are Halon they must have a CURRENT (WITHIN 13 MONTHS) tag! Extinguishers must be securely attached to the vehicle structure with METAL brackets. 7) Driver’s side window must be up during each run unless a window net or arm restraint is used. 8) All cars must have spark arrester mufflers. 9) NHA recognizes 4 categories for vehicle classification (SCCA Solo, SCCA GCR, NHA Special Classes & Vintage SOVREN Classes). Proper classing of the vehicle is the responsibility of the competitor, but is always subject to verification and correction by event officials and your fellow competitors.

DRIVER REGULATIONS: 1) Every driver must have a valid driver’s license. Any license or permit which requires another licensed driver in the vehicle is not acceptable. Minimum age of drivers is 18. 2) All drivers must attend the drivers’ meetings. Run cards will be given out only at the drivers’ meetings. Please check times. First runs may be forfeited if the meeting is missed. We will have a sign-in procedure. 3) Drivers must present their cars promptly when called by grid personnel and run in their run groups or lose their turns. Exceptions will be made for workers or those with prior permission. 4) Run card must be given to the stage lane attendant as cars line up for each run group, and picked up at the scoreboard after each run. 5) SLOW DOWN IMMEDIATELY after the finish line and proceed slowly up the hill to the top pit staging area. DO NOT STOP BEFORE THE STAGING AREA. Anyone continuing to race past the finish will be disqualified! 6) No driver may have more than three runs per day. (Exception would be an official rerun given for timing or other verifiable error) 7) Each driver may trophy or set a record in only one class. 8) A run begins when a competitor’s car crosses the start line. Reruns will be granted only for timing failure or verifiable object on the course, and will not be given because of mechanical or other failure of the competitor’s car. 9) No practicing on the hill before or after the event. This will be grounds for disqualification if confirmed. 10) Speed limit in pit areas is 5 MPH. Speed limit on the rest of the hill except during timed runs is 25 MPH maximum!!

Additional rules and regulations will be distributed at registration and may be given verbally at the drivers’ meeting. You can read most of these in advance on our website at www.eescc.org. CAR CLASSIFICATION: NHA is mostly using Solo (autocross) classifications for ease of classing your car. There are still a few specialty NHA classes, but mostly if you autocross- it will be easier to class your vehicle. FOOD AT THE HILL: Box lunches will be provided to whoever signs up and pays to receive them (to order, look for lunch option on the online registration form). Sandwich, chips, fruit and pop are available each day. Make sure to sign up for meals prior to Friday registration. HOW TO GET THERE: Oakridge is located on beautiful Hwy 58 just 40 miles south of Eugene or 130 miles N.W. of Klamath Falls via Highways 97 and 58. Find the map link from our website at www.eescc.org. To get to the hill from Oakridge go southeast on Hwy 58 to the Hills Creek Dam Road just outside of Oakridge. Then take road 21 to the west side of the lake and dam, approximately one mile, to road 2102. Then go two miles up the road to the event. Watch for 2-way traffic! The Emerald Empire Sports Car Club conducts this event under a Special Use Permit with Willamette National Forest, and is an equal opportunity outdoor recreation provider.
