Targa - Time Trial, Rally and Solo Events

Event Requirements

Registration closed November 7, 2019 11:59 PM at 2019-11-07T21:59:00-0800 Registration ends November 7, 2019 11:59 PM at 2019-11-07T21:59:00-0800 Registration opens October 8, 2019 12:00 AM at 2019-10-07T22:00:00-0700 Registration runs from October 8, 2019 12:00 AM to November 7, 2019 11:59 PM

  • Targa participants may earn season points in the disciplines they run as well as compete for Targa points. If their “official” Targa vehicle is not in their same season points class, they may have a second entry for that discipline to earn their season points. This must be a separate entry and entry fees will be mandatory for the second vehicle.

    • Note:  Price Tier 2 allows for both drivers to drive in Time Trails and Solo (autocross) and score points for those events and for season.  However the team must designate the driver who will be scored for the Targa in Time Trails and Solo (autocross)

  • For all classes EXCEPT the Towed Vehicle/Open Tire class, the Targa vehicle must run one set of tires, not to be changed out by discipline, (only allowing change for catastrophic issues) and must be 200 tw or higher

  • Helmets must be worn for all track and autocross events.  Helmets certified as meeting the most current or the two most recent applicable Snell, FIA, or SFI standards are acceptable.

  • Points for the Targa championship in each class will be determined by the team’s placement in their division

If you do not meet the requirements of 1-4 above, you can request an entry waiver by contacting the Chief Driving Instructor, Brad Flack (bradflack@earthlink.net).  All drivers approved for participation who do not meet 1-4 above and who don't have and entry waiver will need to choose the Track Experience (TE) option when registering.

If using your own transponder, your AMB transponder must be compatible with our timing system.  If you're not sure, please email Brad Flack (bradflack@earthlink.net) for clarification.

  • A driver may be able to graduate from the Track experience group into the TT group at the discretion of the instructor and chief steward.

Road Rally Details

The Rally portion of the Targa will be a GTA (Games, Tours and Adventures) rally. The challenge of a Road Rally is to follow a prescribed course at legal speeds and to read signs and landmarks along the route to find answers to questions supplied by the organizers.  This is not a speed event, but a fun drive on all paved roads in North Texas.  Scoring is based on your ability to follow the course and correctly answer questions about things that you see along the rally route.

Any vehicle with 4 wheels that’s street legal is OK in this Rally.  There must be at least 2 people old enough to read in every rally car. The driver must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. The car must be in good mechanical condition. If one of the rally car occupants is a minor (under 18 years old), that person must have an SCCA "Minor Release" signed by a parent in the presence of either the rally registrar or a Notary Public. The form is available from rally@texasscca.org, or at registration.
