General Information and Supplementary Regulations

Welcome to the CSCC Winter Test Day sponsored by VEX Performance! Below and attached you will find some basic information to attend the event and have a safe, fun day.

Organisers

This test day is being organised by: Fred Drury (587-785-7454) and Johnny Summers.

Venues

The test session will use the South Loop of Jumping Pound Forest Demonstration Loop, running from ‘gate to gate’ west to east (map attached).

Servicing will be in the North Loop, with no pre-assigned service spots.

Type of Event

This is a rally car test day. The test day will be run following the principles of the CARS National Rally Sprint Regulations. Unofficial timing may be available, but there will be no scoring of the event.

Jurisdiction

This event is not part of any championship. The event is run by the Calgary Sports Car Club and insured and sanctioned by CARS and RallyWest.

Registration and Entry Fees

Registration in advance is required on MotorsportReg.

Entries will be accepted in order of fully paid entry.

For CSCC members and members of CARS affiliated clubs (proof of current membership will be required prior to registration confirmation), there is a sliding entry fee of $300 if there are less than 10 registrations, and $200 if there are 10 or more registrations.

The entry fee for non-members is $375.

Entry fees will be paid via MotorsportReg.

Refunds

Event cancellation: Full refund.

Withdrawal: Refund only if spot can be filled by another team.

Eligibility

Participants - The following documents, valid on the day of the event, and equipment must be presented at sign-in:

  1. Driver’s license for the driver(s) of the rally test vehicle.
  2. Vehicle registration or provincial exemption.
  3. Liability insurance for the entered vehicle.
  4. If the owner of the vehicle is neither the driver nor co-driver, written authorization from the owner of the vehicle is required.
  5. Any participant (driver or co-driver) under the age of majority shall present proof of signed Minor Waiver. No participants under the age of 16.
  6. Helmets and Frontal Head Restraint systems conforming to CARS NRR 11.1.6 and 11.1.7 respectively must be worn by all drivers, co-drivers, and guests being given rides.
  7. Driving suits conforming to CARS Rulebook 11.1.8 are recommended but not required.

Vehicles – The following requirements are mandatory:

  1. Vehicles must be based on a production, closed body and chassis to participate.
  2. Safety equipment conforming to CARS NRR 12.2 to 12.9 (roll cage, harnesses, etc.).
  3. All participating vehicles must be roadworthy and the following items, in particular, must be adequate and functioning properly: all brakes, horn, windshield wipers, all legally required exterior lights, tires (including spares) and exhaust system.
  4. All loose items in the vehicle must be fastened securely (including items in the trunk).
  5. A tow rope must be carried in the vehicle.
  6. Triangles MUST be carried in the car and at least one must be easily accessible to the occupants of the car.
  7. Mechanical condition and safety of the vehicle is the responsibility of the entrant.

Servicing

All servicing must be done OFF THE GRASS and be done on a tarp and in the designated area. Fuelling will be at the participants discretion and teams are responsible for cleaning up their own spills and removing all their own garbage. Teams are required to bring spill absorbents with them as well as fire extinguishers if they plan on refuelling.

Emergency Services

There will be medics and recovery on site, but NO heavy recovery vehicle at this event.

This is a Test Day, and we expect all teams will drive accordingly and safely.

STARS Air Ambulance has been notified of our location and type of event.

Waivers/Passes

All people at the test site MUST complete the associated SpeedWaiver waiver through MotorsportReg. If you have not already signed the 2026 CARS Annual Wavier, please use the following link:

Kananaskis Park pass will be needed for Trucks, Trailers and Rally Cars.

Teams that can bring a person that is Licenced HAM Radio to marshal, you will a receive $50 discount.

Teams that can supply an off-duty paramedic or volunteer EMR with medical gear you will a receive $100 discount.

**If a participant misses this meeting, they will need to track down the organizer for a briefing prior to running.

Communications

Cell coverage at the test site is spotty to non-existent at best. Teams are encouraged to bring ham radios (if licensed) and/or FRS radios to test day. Operational communications frequencies on amateur and FRS bands will be communicated at the drivers meeting. It is expected the ham network will operate on 146.580 (simplex).

There will be a Star link connection at the Start of the Test Loop for emergency and Wi-Fi connection, Log in info will be provided day of.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

Consumption of alcoholic beverages, cannabis, narcotics, or illegal drugs by any participant, entrant, service crew member, event worker, or official before the conclusion of testing activities at an event is expressly forbidden.
