Wichita TRSS Volunteer Registration

Road Yoder Autocross Site

About this event

Please take a moment to register as a volunteer be a coach or help on the course for Tire Rack Street Survival in Yoder on Septembr 28, 2024.

Event requirements

Last year over 5000 teenagers died in motor vehicle crashes. Nearly half of these fatalities involved a single vehicle.

Auto collisions are the #1 cause of death among our target audience: those aged 16 to 21.

Tire Rack Street Survival is a non-profit driver education program designed to teach kids the skills they need to stay alive behind the wheel. The primary focus is a hands-on driving experience in real-world situations. Students will use their own car to learn about its handling limits and how to control it within those limits.

The Tire Rack Street Survival school for the Wichita area will take place Saturday September 28, 2024 in Yoder, KS. Students will learn about driving safety both in a classroom and in their cars, with the course designed to demonstrate to students why their decisions and actions matter on the road. They will gain an understanding of how to handle their car in extreme situations, the importance of wearing seatbelts, and hands-on experience with the dangers of distracted driving.

About this event

Welcome! We need your help to teach teen drivers advanced car control skills that may save their lives.

The students may arrive grumpy--their parents signed them up and dragged them from their beds at a too-early hour to do something they think unpleasant. By mid-morning the students generally have big, enthusiastic smiles and eagerly await the next set of exercises. The school is actually FUN, for students and you

In-Car Coach

Trained coaches will provide one-on-one instruction to students.

An in-car coach rides with the student in the car that the student drives daily and advises the student in car control exercises similar to segments of an autocross course. No helmets are worn or communicators used.

Unless you have already done so, please complete a short on-line training course that addresses how best to engage with teenagers: In-Car Coach Training. After you complete the course, e-mail your certificate as noted at the end of the training course.

Volunteer

Our volunteers make the school possible by registering students, setting and resetting the exercises, directing traffic, directing students from exercise to exercise, and keeping the range safe. No prior experience is necessary!

Invite students and save/change a life!  Registration is capped at 20 students, so take a minute to register your teenage driver online today. For $95 and a single day in Yoder, you can help save at least one teenager’s life.
