Black Ankle Wander

PCA-CHS 2026 Tour & Rally Event No. 14 – Thursday, Sept 17

In keeping with the theme of the weekday wander tours, we are going to drive some of the better roads of Howard, Carroll and Frederick counties and end at a destination that would typically limit our ability to accept registrations due to space.  We will have a terrific drive, lunch, and optional wine tasting, and vineyard tour as described below. 

The destination is Black Ankle Vineyard in Mt Airy, Maryland.  Why Black Ankle?  Kim and I have been a fan of this winery for many years.  The wines are made with grapes grown only on the land owned by Black Ankle.  The venue’s outdoor patio space and surrounding hills are a perfect place to enjoy a great glass of wine and lunch. 

We will start in Ellicott City, MD for an approximate 60 mile drive through scenic parts of Howard, Caroll and Frederick counties.  Once we arrive at the Winery, we will enjoy a buffet lunch, which includes a sandwich, salads, and dessert.  After lunch, you can go on a vineyard tour. Wine tastings and wine by the glass or bottle will be available for purchase. Please note that you must be 21 years old or older to attend this event.

Sandwich
Muffuletta- Olive tapenade, strachiatella, N'Duja, Mortadella, Salami, wild flower honey

Salads
Macaroni salad- Italian Herb dressing, salami, tomato, gundilla peppers, Olives

Garden salad- Fennel, tomato, onion, seasonal vegetables, seasonal lettuce

Dessert
Seasonal, House made cookies/bars

WHEN and WHERE

When: Thursday, September 17th, at 10:00 am

Assembly Point: Ellicott City, MD, address will be sent to confirmed registrants by September 15th.

Participant’s Meeting: 10:30 am

Departure: First cars off approximately 10:45 am.

Destination: Black Ankle Vineyard, 14463 Black Ankle Rd, Mt. Airy, MD 21771

Distance: Approximately 60 miles

ETA: Approximately 90 minutes

PARTICIPATION

By signing up for and joining any of our driving events, registrants acknowledge and assume all the risks in and full responsibility for their participation. PCA waiver forms must be completed and signed by all, online or on paper. Note that planned events are subject to change, for weather-related or other reasons.

REGISTRATION

• Log on to your MotorsportReg account at (need the link inserted here).
• Registration is open and will close at 1:00 pm on September 14th.  
• All attendees must be 21 or older to participate in this event.
• PCA members and their guests must be registered and confirmed to join this event.
• Drivers must be adult PCA members with a valid driver’s license.
• Fee $35 per adult, which includes lunch
• MotorsportReg charges a $2 booking fee for every registration (not for every person).
• Route instructions and other documents will be sent to confirmed registrants via e-mail by 6:00 pm on September 15th.
• This event has capacity limits for cars and people.
• To obtain a refund, cancellations must be made before the closing of registration.
