About this event
Coaches and Volunteers Needed for Tire Rack Street Survival® (TRSS) School
PCA Potomac is hosting a TRSS school for teen drivers at Summit Point on 29 October and is in need of In-car Coaches and Volunteers. The primary emphasis of TRSS is a "hands-on" driving experience in real-world situations! Students will use their own car to learn about its handling limits and how to control it. This school is not about fastest times, driving the line, or hitting the apex; instead, it focuses on safety and accident avoidance.
Students must be registerted seperately on the TRSS National site here: https://msreg.com/TRSS2023PCA
We need our PCA Potomac DE and AutoX instructors and member volunteers to make this event a success. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. All coaches must complete the TRSS training to be eligible to participate. The training covers the drills that the coaches will guide the teen drivers through, as well as methods and approaches for working with young, inexperienced drivers who may be apprehensive about executing the drills.
The TRSS training certification for In-car Coaches is taken at: https://streetsurvival.org/schools/become-a-coach/. The training takes about an hour and successfully passing the certification exam will register you in the National TRSS Coach Training Registrar. Please note that this doesn’t have to be done every year. If you have taken the course within the last 5 years, you do not have to repeat the process. The PCA TRSS Program Coordinator will be sent a status report periodically and in enough time prior to the school to confirm eligibility and take appropriate action.
Thank you for helping to make this event a success and making the driving experience for our local teens safer!
Event requirements
We have many positions available to volunteer for the event. Anyone over 18 can volunteer for the event to help out, and it's a great fun to watch to students progress and graduate. For in-car coaching there are prerequisites for TRSS and PCA Potomac.
- Previous in-car coaching with PCA or BMW at a TRSS event in last 5 years
- Must have completed the online TRSS course and certification: Become a Coach – Welcome to Tire Rack Street Survival. Real world. Hands-on.
- Have been or are a PCA AX or DE instructor
You don't have to be an instructor or in-car coach to support this event - we need volunteers to assist with many activities such as registration, vehicle inspection, course setup, traffic management, cone toppler support and meal setup. Please come out for this 1-day event to help make it a success for PCA Potomac.
Any questions about being a volunteer or in-car coaching, please contact Doug Hough or Bill Dooley, TRSS Coordinators, at streetsurvival@pcapotomac.org.
