About this event
Porsche owners and sailboat racers from around Southern California have been invited by CIRCLE PORSCHE to attend a preview of the boats entered in the 2017 Los Angeles to Honolulu, "Transpacific Yacht Race" https://2017.transpacyc.com/
Park your Porsche on the Promenade right in front of the boats that will be sailing in the race. See the boats, talk to the sailors, stroll along the "Transpac Walk of Fame" on the Promenade to learn about the history of the race and some of the famous people and events in the race.
The first of 3 staggered starts is Monday, July 3 so these boats will be loaded and ready to go.
It was first sailed in 1906, and since then on odd numbered years. Some race history: One boat sailed the last 40 miles with a broken mast and still won the race. One man was swept overboard and picked up a day later by another boat. These and many other stories await you along with other attractions in the area such as The Aquarium of the Pacific, The Pike Outlets, theaters and other entertainment.
Porsche will have a display of cars with drivers to take tours of the Long Beach Grand Prix course in their latest models.
The event lasts from 10:30 until 3:00. A reception catered by Gladstone's Restaurant will be provided.
