Driver's Delight - Angeles Crest Highway then to Tehacapi for lunch. Continue over HWY 58 and up the Kern River Gorge to Kernville. July 27,2019
Up the Angeles Crest Hwy, down Angeles Forest HWY and across the Lancaster Plain to Tehachapi for lunch at Kohnen's Country Bakery. After lunch continues over the Tehachapi Pass in the Southern Sierra to the edge of the central valley then back up the mountains following the Kern River ending in Kernville.
Although the tour ends in Kernville, there are several post-tour options:
1. Drive home that afternoon via I-5 to the west or HWY 14 to the east .
2. Have dinner and spend the night in Kernville, and enjoy the many things to do around Kernville. http://www.gotokernville.com/
3. Sunday Morning take a 6 hour white-water raft trip with a stop for lunch through class 3 rapids on the Kern River at 9:00 am. $175 per person Places for 12 people have been reserved.
In order to hold the rafting reservation, there must be at least 10 people signed up by June 26!!!
We will start in La Canada, on the top deck of the parking structure behind Panera Bread, 990 Town Center Dr a, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 across from the Target Store at the intersection of Angeles Crest Highway and the 210 Freeway. See map and directions to follow.
We will meet at 8:00 AM and depart promptly at 9:00 AM.
Starting up Angeles Crest Highway, down Angeles Forest and across the Tehachapi plain for a fun drive. The first stop will be at Kohnen's Country Bakery in Tehachapi. In order to pre-order your lunch go to the lunch menu at www.kohnenscountrybakery.com
Cresting the Tehachapi Pass on Highway 58 with a possible stop at the Civil Engineering marvel, the Tehachapi Loop and descend to the edge of the Central Valley. Climb up through the foothills in the Kern River Gorge past Lake Isabella to Kernville.
If not spending the night, return down the Kern River Gorge to I-5 or head east to join HWY 14.

IF YOU WISH TO JOIN THE SUNDAY RIVER RAFTING TRIP, ROOMS IN AND AROUND KERNVILLE ARE IN HIGH DEMAND, BOOK YOUR ROOM IMMEDIATELY.
2 BOATS HAVE BEEN RESERVED FOR A TOTAL OF 10-12 PLACES. IT IS A 6 HOUR TRIP WITH LUNCH BEGINNING AT 9 ON SUNDAY, JULY 28. EARLY SIGN UP IS IMPERATIVE. THERE WILL BE A WAITLIST, AND AN ADDITIONAL BOAT MAY BE ADDED. MINIMUM AGE IS 12 YEARS OLD. ONLY PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN CAN SIGN THE PCA AND RAFTING WAIVERS.
COST IS $175 PER PERSON, NON-REFUNDABLE.
RAFTING RESERVATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY June 26, 30 DAYS BEFORE THE TRIP. IF YOU MUST CANCEL, WE WILL TRY TO CONNECT YOU WITH SOMEONE ON THE WAITLIST.

Take the 210 Fwy. East towards Pasadena
Exit at Angeles Crest Hwy. Right turn at Angeles Crest Hwy. Immediate left at Town Center to rooftop parking lot at the first right.
From the East:
Take the 210 Fwy. West towards Glendale
Exit at Angeles Crest Hwy. Left turn at Angeles Crest Hwy. Left at Town Center to rooftop parking lot at the first right.
