Time Trial Drivers, come test your skills and see champions crowned at the SCCA Chicago Region's Time Trial held at Blackhawk Farms Raceway as part of That Loooong Race weekend! This is a Level One event that takes place as part of the region's Wisconsin Grand Prix road race weekend. It is a timed event designed for advanced and experienced intermediate drivers and typically open to street-legal vehicles. Drivers with cars that are neither street-legal nor race cars should contact the Event Lead for clarification.
Overview: All TT drivers will be on track as part of a single Time Trials run group, which is reserved for advanced and experienced intermediate track drivers. We are planning for three by 20-minute sessions for the Time Trials run group, although weather and on-track incidents can force adjustments to the schedule. The first on-track session will be used to grid the entries for the following two sessions.
Entries: The entry fee for SCCA members for this Time Trial is $225. For non-members, the entry fee of $250 covers your entry + a $25 weekend membership, and part of that weekend membership fee can be applied to a full SCCA membership. Join at SCCA.com and become eligible for discounts on travel and parts, amazing experiences, and even more fun with cars. Transponder rental for the Time Trials is $30, or you may register and use your own transponder. Please note that transponders and highly visible numbers are required for this event.
Vehicle Eligibility: Race cars and high center-of-gravity vehicles are not eligible for this event. Please click here to see the most current SCCA vehicle classifications for Time Trials, with this event's exception of non-streetable vehicles. Again: race cars are not eligible for the Time Trial but are encouraged to enter in the Blackhawk Farms Test Day (blackhawkfarms.com/track-days/pre-race-test-and-tune/) and/or the race events held as part of That Looong Race (msreg.com/ThatLoooongRace2026).
Driver Eligibility: Drivers should have successfully completed at least FOUR track events (not autocross) at the intermediate level or above. If a driver's resume is not visible to the organizers through MotorsportReg, the driver will be responsible for providing proof of their qualifications. For safety reasons -- there can be sizable differences in horsepower when all TT drivers are running in one group -- drivers that cannot provide the necessary qualifications will be declined. SCCA Time Trials licenses at or above the Intermediate Level are strongly encouraged but not required.
Transponders: Competitors must secure functioning, compatible transponders to participating vehicles. Competitors may pre-register and use their own transponders; please provide this information when you register. Transponders will also be available for rent for $30 each.
Event Schedule - Preliminary:
We heard your feedback and are happy to offer a more condensed schedule for the TT drivers! Drivers have THREE twenty-minute sessions, and the first two sessions happen before lunch and the third will happen immediately after lunch. This means an early start but also means you’ll be able to wrap things up after the trophy and championship presentations in the early afternoon.

TT Tech Inspection: (mandatory for helmets + aftermarket safety gear) - Time and Location to be announced
TBA Mandatory drivers' meeting in the Pavilion

We will accept Time Trials licenses from other organizations. If you have one, please bring it with you when you check in at the event.
Safety Equipment: Requirements follow Level One requirements as outlined in the SCCA Time Trials Safety Rules.
Vehicle Eligibility: Central Division Series Time Trial events are geared toward experienced(minimum of four successful track-event completions at the intermediate level or above) drivers typically competing in licensed, streetable cars. Road racers are encouraged to contact Blackhawk Farms (blackhawkfarms.com/track-days/pre-race-test-and-tune/) for Test Day availability.

We look forward to seeing you at the track!

SUPPLEMENTAL REGULATIONS
CHICAGO REGION, SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICA, INC. PRESENTs
Level 1 Time Trial (TT) October 11, 2026 at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, South Beloit, IL
This Level 1 Time Trial (TT), Sanction No. 26-TTRG-XXXX, 10/11/2026 at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, South Beloit, IL, is organized by the Chicago Region, Sports Car Club of America, Inc. (SCCA) and will be held under the current SCCA Time Trial Rules and official updates, except as modified by these Supplemental Regulations. Please read the SCCA’s full Time Trials ruleset at: https:timetrials.scca.com/pages/tt-basics
- Vehicle Classing:
- It is a driver’s responsibility to class their car as accurately as possible BEFORE the event. The most up-to-date classing info is available here (see the Time Trial guide at https://timetrials.scca.com/pages/classmycar)
- Classes:
- Cars are classed according to each vehicle's modifications and relative power. The SCCA Chicago Region uses most of the same categories as SCCA Time Trials -- Sport, Tuner, Max, and Unlimited.
- Not sure how to class your car? If your car is not listed in any category, please contact the National office using the "Class My Car" link and ask them to class it. If your car IS listed, but you’re not quite sure which category it fits, please contact the registration team – before the event, please -- and we'll do our best to get you sorted.
- Click HERE for the full SCCA Time Trials National Classing guidelines -- including the "Class My Car" option if your car is not listed.
- Sport Category allows only minimal modifications; click HERE for the full Sport Category guidelines. Sport Category ranges from Sport 1 (higher performance) to Sport 6 (more modest performance), is for daily-driven street cars on tires with a treadwear of 200 or higher. Sport Category is a restricted ruleset. If a modification is not specifically authorized in the Rules, it is not allowed. (If it doesn't say you can, you can’t.)
- Tuner Category includes allowances for some bolt-on modifications for tuning and adjustment. Click HERE for the full Tuner Category guidelines. Tuner Category is also intended for street-driven vehicles with a treadwear rating for 200 or higher, Tuner Category ranges from Tuner 1 to Tuner 5, and there is room for your SCCA Solo (autocross) ST cars, too, as long as they run on TT legal tires. Tuner Category is a restricted ruleset. If a modification is not specifically authorized in the Rules, it is not allowed. (If it doesn't say you can, you can’t.)
- Max Category is where you find "Maximum" street cars: engine swaps, aftermarket or increased forced induction; suspension geometry changes; or even aftermarket wings and bodywork. Max Category ranges from Max 1 to Max 5, and this might be where you enter your approved Kit car; click HERE for the full Max Category guidelines. Max Category is a restricted ruleset. If a modification is not specifically authorized in the Rules, it is not allowed. (If it doesn't say you can, you can’t.)
- Unlimited Category is for those production-based vehicles that are not street-going or on DOT tires with less than 200 treadwear ratings, or are on non-DOT, full racing tires. Unlimited is divided into Unlimited 1 (production silhouette, but over the displacement limits or under the weight limits for Unlimited 2) and Unlimited 2 (minimum of 1750 pounds with driver and maximum displacement of 3.0 liters).Click HERE for the full Unlimited Category guidelines. Remember that ANY car running on sub-200 treadwear or race tires must be classed in Unlimited.
- Driver Equipment Safety Rules (clarified for 2026):
- The Vehicle and Driver Equipment Safety Rules are as follows, with descriptions of each level below:
- Sport, Tuner and Max categories must meet Safety Level 1.
- Production vehicles prepped within Sport Category allowances on aftermarket (non-OE) D.O.T. approved tires with a UTQG rating of 100-199 may meet Safety Level 1 and will be classed in Unlimited Category.
- Unlimited-category vehicles on D.O.T. approved tires with a UTQG rating of 200 or higher must meet Safety Level 1.
- Unlimited-category vehicles prepped beyond Sport Category allowances and on D.O.T. approved tires with a UTQG rating of less than 200 or any vehicle on D.O.T. tires with a UTQG rating of less than 100 must meet Safety Level 2.
- Unlimited vehicles on non-D.O.T. tires must meet Safety Level 3.
Vehicle Notes:
- Vehicle Eligibility: SCCA CenDiv Time Trials are typically open to four-wheel vehicles that are street-legal, -licensed, and -insured, have completed the vehicle self-tech BEFORE the event, and pass the safety-equipment inspection at the track. Such vehicles must
- meet all of the Safety Level 1 Standards;
- be properly muffled;
- not have a high center of gravity:
- potentially unstable vehicles with a high center of gravity – determined by whether they are wider than they are tall – are excluded from SCCA Time Trials.
- Width is the average track width of the vehicle (measured from center of tire tread to center of tire tread on BOTH axles), and height is measured from the ground to the highest point. Extra caution should be exercised with non-traditional vehicles (e.g., trucks using racing slicks or tires with less than 200 tread wear rating.)
- extra caution should be exercised with non-traditional vehicles (e.g., trucks using racing slicks or tires with less than 200 tread wear rating.)
- Please note that Blackhawk Farms Raceway does not permit electric or hybrid vehicles to run during hot-track sessions, only spectator touring laps – which are not part of this Time Trial event.
- Safety Level 1 Standards: The full guidelines are available HERE and cover the minimum standards for
- seats and seat belts;
- interior;
- brakes;
- tires and wheels;
- suspension and steering;
- engine and drivetrain;
- roll bars (if required and/or present);
- glass and mirrors;
- recording devices.

- The SCCA Chicago Region reserves the right to exclude vehicles that do not meet the safety guidelines or general spirit of the SCCA Experiential Program.
- Convertibles:
- It is highly recommended that all convertible vehicles be equipped with an aftermarket roll bar that meets or exceeds the standards set in the Time Trials Safety Standard Level 2 (see those standards here).
- However, Safety Standard Level 1 requires the vehicle to meet at least one of the following criteria and is not subject to any of the listed exceptions:
-
- 1. Convertible vehicles up to and including the 2005 model year must have rollover protection meeting one of the following criteria:
- A. The vehicle is equipped with documented factory installed roll over protection. (Examples of manufacturer-documented roll over protection include hydroformed and reinforced a-pillars or windshield frame and factory installed roll bars and/or “pop-up” bars that are designated as roll over protection.)
- B. The vehicle is equipped with a commercially produced roll bar or roll cage which is described by the manufacturer to provide track-appropriate rollover protection. (E.g., “style” bars are not acceptable.)
- 1. Braces and portions of the main hoop subject to contact by the driver’s or passenger’s helmet, as seated normally and restrained by seatbelt and harness, must be padded with a non-resilient material such as Ethafoam® or Ensolite® or other similar material with a minimum thickness of 1/2 inch. Padding meeting SFI spec 45.1 or FIA 8857-2001 is strongly recommended.
- C. The vehicle is equipped with a roll bar that meets the Time Trials Safety Level 2 standards for material and construction found at timetrials.scca.com.
- 2. Convertible vehicles of the 2006 model year or later must have a roll bar that meets the Safety Level 2 standards for material and construction unless one of the following criteria is met.
- A. The vehicle is equipped with documented factory-installed roll over protection or a commercially produced roll bar or roll cage which is described by the manufacturer to provide track-appropriate rollover protection.
- B. The vehicle is six (6) cylinders, with the OE drivetrain and may only be naturally aspirated.
- C. The vehicle is four (4) cylinders or less, with the OE drivetrain, including any forced-induction equipment.
- Note: This means that for 2006+ vehicles, if the engine is not the original equipment model as delivered in that vehicle, aftermarket forced induction has been installed, or the vehicle has more than six (6) cylinders or six (6) cylinders and forced induction of any type, the vehicle must have aftermarket rollover protection or documented factory rollover protection.
- 3. T-tops and targa top cars:
- T-top and targa top cars are not considered convertibles, and do not fall under the convertible requirements.
- 4. Factory Hard Tops: Convertible vehicles with a removable factory hardtop (e.g., a bolt-on) must now meet the requirements for convertibles.
- 5. Retractable Hard Tops: Any retractable hardtop vehicle that has its B-Pillar move is considered a convertible and must meet any and all Safety Level requirements for both Time Trials and Track Days.
- 1. Convertible vehicles up to and including the 2005 model year must have rollover protection meeting one of the following criteria:

- Tech Sheets and Helmets: All drivers need to present a completed CenDiv TT tech inspection sheet (click to open) and a helmet meeting current Time Trials certifications(click to
open) at the SCCA check-in table before the event. Helmets with only a DOT (highway) rating are inadequate for track use and will not be accepted. Helmet rentals will notbe available for this event.
