Buttonwillow Raceway

About this event

HIGH PERFORMANCE SAFETY DRIVING SCHOOL
BUTTONWILLOW RACEWAY PARK
November 18-20, 2016

Welcome to the SoCal Audi Club's High Performance Safety Driving School at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Buttonwillow, California.

What is it?

  • It's a chance to drive your own car in a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment.
  • It's a chance to learn more about yourself and your car, and to enhance your driving skills.
  • It's a chance to meet and socialize with a diverse group of friendly individuals who embrace performance driving and really enjoy Audi automobiles.

Driving your own car on a race track without side streets and other distractions is not only wonderful fun, it is the safest and most effective way to explore the capabilities of your car and its driver while learning advanced driving techniques.

Once you've experienced driving your own car on a race track you will know what the excitement is all about, and you will wonder why you waited so long to JUST DO IT!

Why Audi Club?

The best venues! Buttonwillow Raceway Park is one of the safest and most fun tracks in the Southwest. If it is your first or tenth time to an Audi driving event you will have a blast.

Drive your OWN car! During all driving exercises students will drive their own cars, and will have a club instructor assisting in developing better driving skills. This provides helpful input to ensure you get the most out of the experience, all in a safe learning environment.

All makes and models of coupes and sedans are welcome at SoCal Audi Club driving schools.

We train you! At Audi Club we don't just "drop you into the deep end"! Beginning and Novice drivers will spend the morning of the first day learning vehicle dynamics and practicing car control with a combination of classroom and driving skills exercises, and will then join the more experienced drivers on the track for the remainder of the weekend. Whatever your level of experience, you will benefit from classroom sessions tailored to your skill level. In-car instruction and classroom seminars are included for free with every registration.

Safety First! Run groups are established to allow students to be on track with other drivers of similar experience. Beginning students will always have an instructor in the car during on-track driving sessions. This is not a race, so passing is allowed only on designated sections of the course and under controlled circumstances. Drivers with documented experience will be placed in a run group appropriate for their demonstrated skill level and their car's capabilities. In-car instruction and coaching is provided at all levels of driver experience.

Registration Fees: The student registration fee of only $525 represents an incredible bargain. It includes everything necessary for two days of fun, including:

  • On-track instruction with a trained instructor in your right seat available for every driver
  • NEW! Advanced online training - free for first-timers and discounted for experienced drivers
  • Driving theory sessions at the track for all levels
  • Car control exercises for novices
  • A souvenir event shirt
  • Lunch at the track both days
  • An enjoyable Saturday night dinner with raffle prizes and an automotive goodies auction

Headquarters Hotel:
The headquarters hotel for the event is the Best Western Plus Wasco Inn & Suites.

Celebrity Guest:
Well known professional racer Patrick Lindsey will again be our special Celebrity Guest at Buttonwillow. Our advanced drivers may select optional in-car instruction with Patrick. A few lucky individuals may even get a chance to experience a lap riding in a race car with Patrick!

HIGH PERFORMANCE SAFETY DRIVING SCHOOL
BUTTONWILLOW RACEWAY PARK
November 18-20, 2016

Event Description
This is not a race or even a racing school, but rather an event where the primary focus is SAFETY, FUN, and LEARNING. You will improve your own personal performance behind the wheel.

You will be learning and practicing the principles and art of high speed, precision driving in a fun, relaxed, and organized school setting. The event is conducted at a race track under close supervision by experienced and trained Audi Club instructors. You will learn techniques for handling and controlling your own vehicle. This training will allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle. It will help prepare you for emergencies that may occur in normal driving situations.

At no time will you be pushed or encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable for you. All participants will be provided with instruction and organized into run groups in accordance with prior experience, demonstrated skill, and type of vehicle. This is for your safety and will enhance your learning by providing an opportunity to share the day's experiences with your peers.

Registration Fees:
The student registration fee for the SoCal Audi Club's High Performance Safety Driving School is $525* for the entire weekend. Your registration fee includes everything necessary for two days of learning more about yourself and your car including study materials, driving theory classroom, car control exercises for novices, on-track instruction both days with a trained instructor in your right seat, event shirt, Saturday & Sunday lunch, and the Saturday night Dinner featuring raffle prizes and auction items.

If this is your first time driving at a race track SoCal Audi Club will include valuable FREE bonuses including a complimentary professional driving theory eCourse and a complimentary helmet rental.

Our corps of experienced and trained Audi Club instructors volunteer their time and expertise to teach at our driving school. Pre-approved instructors qualify for a discounted registration fee of $175.

The track will collect a separate gate fee of $10 per person which is good for the entire weekend.

*A $50 early-bird discount is available for student registrations paid prior to October 16, 2016.

Headquarters Hotel:
The headquarters hotel for the event is the Best Western Plus Wasco Inn & Suites. To make a reservation at the Audi Club rate do not reserve online or call the corporate reservation line, instead please call the hotel directly at (661) 758-1111. Be sure to mention you are with the Audi Club to get our discounted rate. If you have any difficulties registering in the Audi block you may ask for Jasmine, Chris or Deepa.  Important! The hotel has only agreed to hold the block of Audi Club rooms for a limited time, so to avoid disappointment please make your reservation early!

HOTEL UPDATE: The host hotel is located about 20 minutes drive from the track and is the location of Friday afternoon registration and Friday evening's mandatory driver meetings. (Note that the Saturday evening banquet dinner will be held at the track.) As of October 18th we understand the host hotel is completely booked for Friday and Saturday nights. If you have not yet made a reservation there are nice chain hotels in Delano and in North Bakersfield, but they are about twice as far from the track as Wasco. A downscale alternative is the Motel 6 - Buttonwillow Central at 20645 Tracy Avenue (take the Buttonwillow exit off I-5; direct line 661-764-5121) which is only nine miles from the track. As of mid-October they have rooms available. It is probably a little better than the Super 8 Motel in the same area.

Celebrity Guest:
NEWS FLASH! Well known professional racer Patrick Lindsey will again be our Celebrity Guest at Buttonwillow. Patrick began his performance driving career at SoCal Audi Club, and we welcome him back to his roots. Patrick will be available for optional in-car HPDE instruction for our instructors and for C & D (intermediate and advanced) drivers who have been previously approved for solo. If you meet the requirements please purchase this special in-car instruction with Patrick during registration.

A few lucky individuals may even get to experience the Buttonwillow track in a race car* driven by Patrick! EXTRA BONUS - Every purchaser of a coaching session with Patrick will be entered into a drawing for a FREE lapping session in a race car* driven by Patrick, a $500 value!
*Note: The availability of Patrick's race car is subject to confirmation as we get closer to the event.
