Speed-Fanatics' Season Opener at Area 27, BC on May 10th, 2023.
REGISTRATION FEE:
$550 (Please note that we will be sending you an electronic invoice via email for you to pay by credit card after registration)
The event runs from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Attendance at the 8:30AM drivers meeting is mandatory.
Please arrive at the track no later than 7:45am for Tech and Registrations.
Organizer has the right to turn away any participants who missed drivers' meeting without offering refunds.
Total of 3 run groups with 25min sessions. (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
This event is not for those with no previous track experience.
Please see below terms from Area27 management and be sure to select the proper group that fits best to your driving creditians:
Participants are eligible to open lapping, meaning Advanced and Intermediate groups, if they can prove one or more of the following. If they are unable to produce accreditation prior to arriving at the facility, they will be moved into the novice group.
Accredited drivers that have never been to Area 27 will be required to do a minimum of 2 lead follow laps to familiarize themselves with the circuit. Please provide one or more of the following:
- Have an official lapping license or higher issued by a recognized sanctioning authority such as ORRA 27,
- Or, currently hold or have previously held a regional or higher-grade race license within the last ten (10) years. Ineligible race licenses include Autocross licenses,
- Or, have successfully completed an ASN approved performance driving program with proof of certification within the last five (5) years.
- Or, have attended an event run by Academy 27’s Chief Instructor a minimum of 3 times within the last 12 months or 5 dates within the last 24 months. Must be able to provide specific dates verified by SOMC management."
The newest change is the last one where a driver may not have formal accreditation, but has been to several other programs at the facility - please note however that the program would need to be run by Kees in order to be eligible.
Here is the lead-follow policy:
"Lead follow is mandatory for those that do not meet Area 27 Advanced Driver eligibility requirements prior to an event.
A minimum of two formal lead follow sessions is required for Novice and Intermediate drivers with these drivers only being eligible to move to open lapping with an accredited instructor’s authorization.
Lead Follow is defined as a paced session by an accredited instructor with no more than 6 cars behind the instructor vehicle. Lead follow is required for anyone new to Area 27, even those who meet Advanced accreditation in order to familiarize themselves with the circuit. This is to ensure a safe event due to the technical elements of the circuit."
Please note that Area27 only allows non-members to attend up to 3 times a year.
You will be rejected without a refund If you are a non member and have attended Area27 3 times or more in 2023 prior to this event.
Area27's Crave kitchen will be available. A menu will be provided during the morning, and participants may choose, and purchase their meals with Crave kitchen.
Event requirements
Please specified your track experience before registering. Organizer has the right to move participants into run groups which best suits their skill levels and natural speeds of vehicles.
Please bring your own SNELL 2010 approved helmets;
All entrants will be required to fill out a self-tech form prior to the event to confirm their vehicle is safe to drive on track. If your vehicle is deemed unsafe to run, you will be unable to participate and no refund will be provided. If you are unsure on how to do a safety inspection on your vehicle please take it in to a local shop for an inspection.
Street legal and ICBC insured soft top convertible cars are welcome to join the event.
Area 27 has a sound limit of 104db measured across the starting line. Please ensure your car does not exceed this, otherwise your vehicle will be ineligible to continue for the day.
Organizer has the right to send a participant home if this person is not behaving in good manners or is making dangerous moves on track which may affect the safety of others.
