Santa Clara Corvettes -- CovidCow AX #3

Cow Palace

About this event

Santa Clara Corvettes (SCC) has rescheduled our one day autocross at the Cow Palace to November 13, 2021. This was due to anticipated heavy rainfall on the day of the event.   All registration will occur on MotorsportReg, and registration will close when the event is full, or on November 10, 2021, whichever comes first. There will be no walk-up registration at the event.

SCC was created in 1975 and has been offering a variety of activities for Corvette enthusiasts in the SF Bay Area for over 40 years.  Non-Corvettes are quite welcome at our autocross events.  While this will be a Western States Corvette Council (WSCC) competition, non-Corvettes are included in the results and get ranked in with the Corvette results.  You can see how you did against all of the drivers there that day.

This is a new format that is different than our past events with a single entry fee for the entire day.  This is an all-day event.  We will attempt to give entrants 8 runs, 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon.  This will be done with 3 run groups of approximately 25 cars per group. All runs will count towards best time for the day.

As usual, autocross is a rain-or-shine event.  No cancellations for weather.

This will be our tentative schedule and will be updated if necessary.

Come on out and join us for some good old Covid Cow Madness.

COVID requirements have eased considerably since our earlier events this year.  We may now have up to 500 people present at one time, so guests are once again welcome.  Masks are not required, since it is an outdoor event.  In the interest of caution, we are still asking people to observe safe distancing (6 ft).  People who want to wear a mask are welcome to do so.  We do ask that anyone not fully innoculated against COVID wear a mask whenever out of their car.  We will continue to clean shared elements frequently and will have cleaning supplies on hand for use by participants.  Our complete "COVID guidelines" document will be e-mailed out about a week ahead.  Please read before coming to this event and help us keep everyone safe by complying with directions.

Event requirements

You will be asked to e-sign a waiver prior to the event, using SpeedWaiver.com (https://sccorvettes.speedwaiver.com/bxbmb).  You must have a valid driver's license to compete.  If you are less than 18 years old, you may still compete or ride along, but you must have a Minor Waiver filled out and signed by a parent or guardian (available at the registration table).  A helmet meeting SNELL SA 2010 (or newer) requirements is required for all drivers and passengers.  Motorcycle helmets not allowed.  We will be offering a small number of loaner helmets for this event, by reservation only.  Most any car in good condition can be autocrossed.  We do not allow vehicles with a high center of gravity (like trucks on lift kits).  No prior experience is needed.  We offer coaches to provide guidance if requested, but we won't be doing any in-car coaching.

There will be 6 run groups, 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. We require you to work in one Run Group for each one you driveNo 2-driver cars.  If any car has two (or more) drivers, each driver will need to register in a separate run group. Work can involve the work stations on course, timing table, grid, starter, etc. Since this is a one day event, it would be helpful that all participants remain for the entire event. This makes it easier to fully staff all the work stations.

The 3 groups will run and work in the following order in AM and PM sessions:

Run      Work

  1           2

  2           3

  3           1

There will be one Drivers' Meeting at 8:20 AM before any groups start their runs.  Course workers will wear bright yellow vests, which we provide.  These are disposable vests, which you are free to keep or dispose of.
