Santa Clara Corvettes -- Auto-X #5 & #6

Cow Palace

About this event

Santa Clara Corvettes is hosting another weekend of autocross at the Cow Palace on Aug 15-16.  All registration will occur on MotorsportReg, and registration will close when the event is full, or on Aug 12, whichever comes first.  There will be no walk-up registration at the event.

Welcome to the registration page for a Santa Clara Corvette autocross.  SCC was created in 1975 and has been offering a variety of activities for Corvette enthusiasts in the SF Bay Area for over 40 years.  Non-Corvettes are quite welcome at our autocross events.  While this will be a Western States Corvette Council (WSCC) competition, non-Corvettes are included in the results and get ranked in with the Corvette results.  You can see how you did against all of the drivers there that day.

We strive to give 5 runs to all entrants each day.  You are welcome to register for two run groups each day for twice the fun (once in the AM and once in the PM).  Also on Saturdays, we usually have fun runs after the 4th run group, charging 2 runs for $10.

Come on out and join us for some good old Mad Cow Madness.

* Motorhomes / camping trailers are welcome to stay overnight at the site for $25.  You get locked in, however, so be prepared. Cars and trailers may be left over night.

COVID -- In these strange times, SCC will be doing several things to mitigate risk from the virus.  People will be REQUIRED to wear a mask when not in their car.  We ask people to observe safe distancing (6 ft).  We will strive to eliminate as many touch points as we can.  We will be cleaning shared elements frequently and will have cleaning supplies on hand for use by participants.  Our complete "COVID guidelines" document will be e-mailed out about a week ahead.  Please read before coming to this event and help us keep everyone safe by complying with directions.

Event requirements

You will be asked to e-sign a waiver prior to the event, using SpeedWaiver.com.  You must have a valid driver's license to compete.  If you are less than 18 years old, you may still compete or ride along, but you must have a Minor Waiver filled out and signed by a parent or guardian (available at the registration table).  A helmet meeting SNELL SA 2005 (or newer) requirements is required for all drivers and passengers.  Motorcycle helmets not allowed.  We will be offering a small number of loaner helmets for this event, by reservation only.  Most any car in good condition can be autocrossed.  We do not allow vehicles with a high center of gravity (like trucks on lift kits).  No prior experience is needed.  We offer coaches to provide guidance if requested, but we won't be doing any in-car coaching.

There will be four run groups each day.  We require you to work in one Run Group for each one you drive.  Work can involve the work stations on course, timing table, grid, starter, etc.  On both days, Run Groups 1 and 2 in the AM are a set -- if you drive in 1, you work in 2, and vice versa.  Same with 3 and 4 in the afternoon.

We used to hold Drivers' Meetings before run groups 1 & 2 and before run groups 3 & 4.  Now, as another COVID precaution, we have done away with them.  Instead we will e-mail you a virtual drivers' meeting ahead of time -- everything you need to know in text.  As with the COVID document, you will need to read it ahead of time.  Course workers will wear bright yellow vests, which we provide.  These are disposable vests, which you are free to keep or dispose of.
