San Diego SCCA Track Day
at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway
April 30th Saturday (Track Direction - CW) - Track Day
Max 60 Driver Entries (4 groups of 15 drivers - this is not counting co-drivers)
May 1st Sunday (Track Direction - CCW) - Track Day
Max 60 Driver Entry (4 groups of 15 drivers - this is not counting co-drivers)
(Sign up for one or both days, but a 2-day entry gets a discount!)
A full weekend of high performance driving! $180 for either single day or $310 for the weekend, four run sessions per day. Co-drivers (this is a shared entry with an already registered participant - same group / same car) $75.
New for this event: Passengers...yes, we are allowing passengers. This is being handled by having these participants pay a nominal fee covering the insurance costs associated with your entry. As this is an SCCA event you also must be an annual SCCA member or purchase a weekend SCCA membership (handled during registration)..
A valid SCCA Membership is required, weekend memberships are available for $15 during registration (this $15 can be used towards an annual membership at a later date - for assistance with procuring an annual membership please email us at info@sdrscca.com).
SCCA Track Days provide an environment for drivers who simply want to increase the enjoyment of driving their vehicle. For most drivers all it takes to be a part is your safe street car, a valid driver’s license, and an approved helmet.
That’s it. The goal is to give you a thrilling experience and stories to share, all from an environment which gives everyone a level to feel comfortable. It is not to give a high pressure experience and high stakes of "winning." Track Days are not races - any on-track passes are limited to specific passing zones, and only with a signal known as a "point-by."
You will receive some instruction while you’re there. That instruction often comes in the form of how to safely enjoy yourself, rather than how to drive at the limit. Think etiquette, how to learn a driving line, passing zones, and general techniques, which may allow you to move from a novice to intermediate or advanced groupings, as you feel comfortable.
The schedule will be released closer to the event date as we balance five groups. Our typical start time is 6:30am for registration with an end time close to 4pm, but is subject to change.
Cancellation Policy:
Drivers - Refund less $25 or Full MSR Credit towards future events for cancellations received on or before 4/15/22. No refunds or credit for cancellations (or no-shows) after 4/15/22.
Co-Drivers - Full refunds for cancellations up to 4/29/22.
Event Structure:
Novice: 0-2 days track experience. Includes lead-follow session to familiarize with the track/safety protocol. Session by session intructor meetings to help with questions and feedback throughout the event.
Early-Intermediate: 2-4 days track experience. More opportunities to pass. Point-by only. Dissolved and combined with Novice and Intermediate.
Intermediate: 4-6 days track experience. More opportunities to pass. Point-by only.
Advanced: 6+ days track experience. Point-by passing on virtually all of the track. (For Advanced, you must be able to complete a lap at 2m 10s or better in either direction).
To be clear, all groups are point-by only (we DO NOT allow open passing)
No transponders will be available for this event.
Gate Fee: All guests will be asked to sign a separate waiver when they reach the gate by the raceway. There is a $10/person for a day pass or $15/person for a weekend pass. Children Under 18 are free, but a legal guardian MUST sign a waiver.
Hotel / Lodging: On-site cabins are by far the easiest - Website: Cabins — Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Track side Camping (RV, Tent, Back of your truck, is totally allowed). RV Power hookups are available for electrical as well as black / grey water dumping (there are fees for hookups and dumping, please contact the track to get these rates). Indio is the closest town at approximately 50min away.
Food / Concessions: The track does sell hot breakfast and lunches with drinks at the track.
Photography: CaliPhotography will be on-site to take professional photos and slo-mo video throughout the weekend! Robert Glaze (Email: cvrlorax@gmail.com or Insta: @cvr_lorax) always recommends planning ahead. Pre-purchasing before the weekend or before the start of each day will guarantee priority shots (and more of them).
