Event requirements

EVENT OVERVIEW

A) Run N Gun is a multi-event competition that awards the best driver and car across 4 separate events. Run N Gun is an endurance test of drivers and their vehicles. Entrants compete in individual events, and accumulate points towards the various Class Championships, and the Overall Grand Champion.

B) The event is designed to provide a fun, safe and controlled environment where everyone can run their replica, pony car, street car, vintage car, or race-prepped vehicle in friendly competition to test their skills and the limits of their vehicle. Camaraderie and good sportsmanship are more important to this event than the final results.

C) It is our desire, and we will make every attempt to be fair, but tech, track, and event officials will have the final say in rulings, decisions or controversies that may arise.

D) A driver is defined as any person entered as the driver of a car in the event. A driver may NOT enter more than one car. Cars may NOT have more than one driver. The same driver must drive their car in all events.

SAFETY - DRIVER

A) Clothing: FIA or SFI approved suits with fire retardant gloves and shoes are recommended for all competitors in all classes. For Group II and Group III, they are strongly recommended. At a minimum, all drivers must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and closed toe shoes. No sandals, shorts or short sleeve shirts. Arm restraints are strongly recommended in open cars.

B) Helmets: Snell SA2005 helmets or higher will be required. No exceptions. No motorcycle helmets allowed. Full-face helmets are recommended in open cars.

SAFETY - VEHICLES

A) General Condition: All vehicles shall be in good working order throughout the event. An operational brake light is required at all times, tires shall be in good condition with no cord showing, suspension shall be free of excessive play and in good condition. Brakes shall have a firm pedal and free of leaks. Engines shall not have excessive loss of fluid or leaks. Seat belts shall be used and in good condition. Windshields shall not have large cracks.

B) Re-inspection: After an off-course excursion, crash, or tow-in, vehicles are required to be re-inspected by a track or event official. Vehicles may be re-inspected at any time if officials feel the need. If vehicles are found to be out of compliance, they will be excluded from competition until issues are fixed.

C) Additional rules for vehicles will be specified in the tech inspection form, and at the track.

PARTICIPANTS & GUESTS

A) At any point if a driver, crew person or guest of the event is found to be acting in an unsafe manor, they may be ejected from the event.

B) Alcohol/intoxicants: There is to be no use of alcohol before the final checkered flag of the day, and no use of illegal drugs on the premises. If any driver or entrant is found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the on-track events, they will be immediately ejected from the event without refund.

TRACK RULES

A) All participants, and guests will follow all rules additionally set forth by the track officials. Rules for passing, flags, lapping, tech, pit area, safety, and equipment will be discussed at the daily Driver’s meetings.

B) All drivers must attend a mandatory driver’s meeting each day.

C) Open top cars must pass the broom-stick test for roll bar height. No decorative roll bars allowed.

D) Drive shaft hoops are strongly suggested.

E) Two wheels or more wheels off the racing surface constitutes and “off” and the driver is required to come into the pits for a discussion and/or re-inspection.

F) Additional track rules will be discussed at the daily driver’s meeting.

CLASS RULES

A) Class determination will be on 3 aspects of each vehicle - Engine Type, Tire Type, and Body Style. Cars will be placed in the appropriate class as they are presented for tech inspection.

CLASS AND GROUP DETERMINATION IS AT THE DISCRETION OF EVENT ORGANIZERS.

RUN GROUPS

The entire field will be divided into 3 groups evenly based on the times from the first 2 sessions. These Run Groups are determined by actual on-track performance. Run Groups are for the safety of all participants, and are not related to Class or Group designations. While in general Run Groups will mirror Group designations, because of the variety of vehicles entered in RunNGun, there will probably be instances for example that a Pro Group entry may run in GREEN Run Group on track, or a Prepared Group entry may run in the RED Run Group on track. Passing rules and passing zones for all RUN GROUPS will be set by track management.

Street - YELLOW Group – generally entry level and novice drivers.

Prepared - GREEN Group – generally intermediate level drivers.

Pro & Unlimited - RED Group – generally advanced level drivers.

EVENT SUMMARY

A) Road Course Solo – Best of 2 laps during qualifying session. This session will consist of one warm-up lap, 2 hot-laps and a cool-down lap. NASCAR style.

B) Road Course Open – the best 4 consecutive lap average recorded during the entire event. Judges will find your best 4 laps and figure the average time of those laps.

C) Auto Cross - Best recorded time – up to 3 runs. The event will run under SCCA scoring for penalties.

D) 1/8 Mile Drag Race – Best recorded time – up to 3 runs.

RULES & DISCLAIMERS

A) The results of each event are final. If by some act of nature the course gets “slower,” including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, volcanic ash, hurricanes, sandstorms or locusts, too bad – once your group has an official session, the results are final.

B) Transponders - Each driver will be loaned a transponder at registration. Volunteers can help you determine the best location for you to mount your assigned transponder. If you fail to return your transponder or return it in poor condition you will be charged $500 for a replacement. Consider that when mounting the transponder.

C) Damages to you, your car, or equipment that occurs at the track or while on the track in competition is 100% your responsibility. Any damage to track facilities found to be caused by you, your car, or equipment while at the track facility may be billed to you at applicable rates.

D) This is a rain or shine event. Every effort will be made to insure a safe, fun, and complete event. All events will be held weather permitting at the discretion of the track management. The track management reserves the right to cancel any event either in part or whole because of but not limited to severe weather, accident, facility damage, recklessness, personal injury, or death.

E) Full refunds will not be available at anytime. An 80% refund will only be available up to 21 calendar days prior to the event. 50% refunds will be available between 20 days and 7 days prior to the event. No refunds will be made after that. Substitutions of entrants can be made anytime prior to the event. Any entrant, driver, or participant that is ejected from the event either in part or whole is not eligible for a refund.

F) All participants, entrants, drivers, visitors are responsible to follow all rules set forth by the event staff and track management.

G) All participants, entrants, drivers, staff, and visitors waive and release from liability any payment, any personal or property rights in connection to video images, still images, photographs, or digital recordings for broadcast, cablecast, internet insertion, or print, and radio uses.

PROTESTS

If you have an issue with another competitor, or believe that another competitor may be classed wrongly, bring it to the attention of the Event Staff. This is a friendly event, and one is to assume that a possible misinterpretation of the rules is strictly an oversight, and not done to gain an advantage. The purpose of this is to give competitors a chance to be friendly and work together for the outcome of their event. The Event officials will then meet to discuss the avenues for handling the situation. All decisions made by the event officials shall be final.
