About this event
The Riverside Park Time Trial, hosted by the Groesbeck Sports Car Club, transforms one of Texas’ most scenic public parks into a motorsport course for a full weekend of cars, competition, and community. Set against the winding roads and shaded canopy of Riverside Park, the event offers something rare: real performance driving in a setting that feels more like a back road than a racetrack.
Originally scheduled for spring, the event was postponed due to severe weather, a decision made with driver and spectator safety as the top priority. Now, with a new summer date, the stage is set for a weekend that brings the race cars out of the paddock and puts them in front of fans before the timed runs begin.
Saturday afternoon and evening will serve as the official kickoff, featuring a car show with all of the competing race cars on display. It is a chance for spectators to get up close to the machines, meet the drivers, take photos, and experience the variety of cars that will take on the course the following day. Drivers will also take part in the official driver’s meeting and course walk, giving them the opportunity to study the route, review procedures, and prepare for Sunday’s competition.
On Sunday, the focus shifts to racing with a full day of driving divided into two sessions.
At its core, the Riverside Park Time Trial is a 1.45-mile closed-course challenge, where drivers compete against the clock, not each other. No wheel-to-wheel racing, no unnecessary theatrics, just precision driving, clean lines, and the joy of speed. Expect a diverse field, from vintage machines to modern performance cars, all pushing through a technical course that rewards skill over horsepower.
Drivers get meaningful seat time, and spectators get something far better than static displays: cars at speed, engines echoing through the trees, and the kind of moments you can’t replicate in a parking lot.
For drivers, it is a focused, no-nonsense format built around maximizing track time.
For spectators, it is a front-row seat to real motorsport in an unexpected place, with the added bonus of seeing the cars up close before they run.
And for everyone involved, it is a reminder that the best days with cars do not happen standing still.
Event requirements
All vehicles entered in Groesbeck Sports Car Club events must pass a safety inspection before being allowed to participate. Drivers are responsible for ensuring their car is mechanically sound and properly prepared for motorsports use.
At a minimum, all vehicles must have a full roll cage, properly functioning brakes, steering, suspension, throttle return, seat belts or harnesses, tires in good condition, secured battery, no major fluid leaks, and no loose items inside the vehicle or trunk. Groesbeck Sports Car Club reserves the right to deny participation to any vehicle deemed unsafe.
All drivers must wear a motorsports-approved helmet, and we suggest a driving suit while on course. Acceptable helmets must carry a current motorsports rating such as Snell SA, FIA, or another approved motorsports certification.
DOT-only motorcycle helmets are not permitted.
Drivers without approved equipment will not be allowed to participate, and failure to meet safety requirements does not qualify the participant for a refund or credit.
