Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) and Medevac Ambulance Services are pleased to offer the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Guide For Emergency and Safety Operations at Motorsports Venues, course. This course will be for the Awareness level and will include classroom instruction at the Pitt Race facility. The course will run from 8 a.m. until approximately 5 p.m.
Operations level classes will be conducted April 14th and 15th. Awareness level is required before taking the Operations level.
There is no charge for accredited first responders to take this course. Pitt Race Fire and Rescue Team members are also invited to attend at no charge. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge courtesy of Pitt Race and Medevac.
The NFPA wrote this guide to assist facility owners, operators, promoters, and emergency management personnel in developing and implementing a system that provides for effective emergency operations at Motorsports facilities and events. The guide is intended to assist with the planning for emergency operations, training and equipping emergency workers, and deploying resources at the time of an incident. These operations can lead to more effective fire suppression in the event of a fire and to improved rescue and medical care for competitors in post-crash situations, while providing for the safety of emergency response personnel working at the venue.
Pitt Race is located in Wampum, PA and contains a 2.8 mile road course, a .89 mile kart track, and a 6 acre vehicle dynamics skid pad. Pitt Race hosts a wide range of Motorsports events including High Performance Driver Education classes, corporate training, private testing, club organizer track days, and professional level Motorsports racing. Street cars, high-end exotic cars, purpose-built race machines, and motorcycles, are at the facility almost every day in the season.
