About this event

PCA-GGR DE No. 3

Weathertech Raceway at Laguna Seca
Monterey
, California
May 22-24, 2020 - POSTPONED
This is a 103 dB event.

Drivers -

Ongoing developments surrounding the COVID-19 situation continue to have their disruptive effects, and as such, GGR's DE and Club Race at Laguna Seca May 22-24 is postponed with a new date TBD (such "D" may not be until the end of April).  We will make an announcement of the new date when the opportunity arises.  If you would like a refund at this time, let us know.  We will cheerfully do so, no questions asked.  Otherwise, we will maintain your paid registration status.

Jim McClelland
GGR Track Chair

This DE event accompanies and supports the three day "Kahuna at Laguna" PCA Club Racing event.  The basic format for the weekend is structured around five run groups (four race groups plus one DE group, or three race groups and two DE groups), as follows:

Fri./Sat., May 22-23:  Sprint Races and Advanced Group* DE
Sunday, May 24:  Sprint Races, Enduros and Advanced Group* DE
*  "Advanced Group" refers to those experienced drivers who are typically assigned to GGR's Red or Blue run groups, and have a minimum of 500 incident-free laps at this track.

Certified and/or Cleared-to-Solo drivers (no Students) wishing to take advantage of this rare opportunity for a three day, 103 dB weekend will be asked to assist the GGR track team in supporting the various Club Race functions.  Volunteers are needed to assist with:

  • Race Registration
  • Grid
  • Scoring and Timing
  • Scales
  • Hospitality

Emphasis on Club Race:
Interested drivers - please understand that the event focus is on the three day Club Race, which is a very significant opportunity for GGR's track program.  This Club Race event is considered one of five major Club Race events (including Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Daytona), and a major event on the west coast.  It will draw PCA club racers from across the country.  Your participation in it is to ensure its success so we can continue to provide it on an annual basis.

We are planning on utilizing the paddock as staging, check-in, and "early" DE tech inspection on Thursday afternoon, May 21.

We are also planning dinner at Turn 12 on Saturday evening.

More info to follow as details are finalized with the track.

Fees:
Three Days - $875
Two Days - $725
One Day - $500

Volunteer Discount:
DE drivers assisting with the administration of the club race will be provided a $50 per day discount to the respective registration fee.

Procrastination Fee:
Registration closes Saturday night midnight May 9, 2020.  Registrations entered after midnight May 2, 2020 will be subject to a $100 Procrastination Fee.

Garages:
Garages will be sold at $240 per garage bay per day.  Each garage is large enough to hold two cars nose to tail.  Should you wish to share a garage to split the cost, we will leave that up to you to be reimbursed by your garage mate.

PCA - HPDE Insurance Program:
In June 2009, Porsche Club of America and Lockton Affinity announced the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program. This innovative program provides single-event physical damage coverage to PCA members who attend High-Performance Driver's Education events. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". Your existing auto insurance policy may not cover damage to your car at the track.

Information on the PCA HPDE Insurance Program can be found here:

(This information is provided as a convenience to our members and should not be construed as an endorsement.)

Coverage from other companies may be available as well.
