PCA California Inland Region — 2nd Sat Tour Sept

Santa Clarita Valley

About this event

California Inland Region — 2nd Saturday Drive (Santa Clarita Canyons)

Start your month the right way — behind the wheel, on the best roads in the region. The CAI 2nd Saturday Drive is our signature monthly canyon run through Bouquet, San Francisquito, and Angeles Forest Highway, and it’s hands-down one of the best “welcome to the club” experiences we offer. So good we run it every month.

This drive is super welcoming and new-member friendly, and it’s also one of the most consistent events on our calendar all year long. Many of us meet new members at Cars & Coffee (1st Saturday) — and this is your invitation to come back and experience the club in motion.

Our route features some of our all-time favorite local roads:

Bouquet Canyon Road • Spunky Canyon Road • San Francisquito Canyon Road • Elizabeth Lake Road • Soledad Canyon Road • Angeles Forest Highway • Aliso Canyon Road

Highlights include breathtaking views of the Bouquet Canyon Reservoir and a pass through the famous Soledad Canyon tunnel, featured in Steven Spielberg’s movie Duel.

Northern Members Meetup (Palmdale Stop)

We especially want to welcome our northern CAI members to join in! If Santa Clarita is a bit of a haul, feel free to meet us at our mid-route break in Palmdale and jump in with the group from there. We’ll be making a short stop at the Albertsons in Palmdale (South entrance by Subway) around 10:45 AM for a quick stretch, restroom break, and to rally everyone together before heading out for the second half of the drive.

Schedule

  • 9:15 AM — Meet & stage in Santa Clarita

  • 9:30 AM — Drivers meeting

  • ~10:45 AM — Mid-route break in Palmdale (restrooms + catch up + regroup)

  • 11:00 AM — Second drivers meeting & departure

  • Finish at River’s End BBQ for food and social time

Route stats

  • 77 miles

  • Elevation change: +6,127 ft / -5,525 ft

End location

We’ll wrap up at River’s End Pub & BBQ, a local favorite serving slow-smoked BBQ and pub fare — from brisket and pulled pork to burgers and more.

Registration required. This is a social touring drive — not a race. Please arrive fueled up and ready to roll.

Event requirements

This event is exclusive to Porsche Club of America (PCA) members.

California Inland Region (CAI) members receive registration priority. Members from neighboring PCA regions are welcome; however, non-CAI registrations will be placed on a waitlist until two (2) weeks prior to the event date. At that time, any remaining spaces will be released to waitlisted participants in the order received.

Not a PCA member yet? If you're shopping for your first Porsche (or planning to join soon), PCA offers a Test Drive membership designed specifically for prospective owners. Learn more and join here: pca.org/pca-test-drive

To avoid registration issues, please ensure your MotorsportReg profile includes your PCA member number and your name exactly as it appears in PCA records.

If you experience any registration issues, please contact the event organizer using the “Have Questions?” button above and include your PCA Member #.

PCA event regulations require all attendees to sign the appropriate PCA waivers, which will be available at the starting location.

Group Drive Safety Guidelines:

  1. Safety is our first priority!  Turn on your headlights and remember our group drives are not track events.
  2. Drive aware.  Road hazards such as road debris/rocks can be kicked up by other cars and trucks unexpectedly. Remember that your PCA friend’s car, that they love as well, is behind you. Bicycling groups, wildlife, and slow moving utility vehicles are commonly encountered on weekends and in rural areas where we’re headed.
  3.  Please ensure you and your vehicles are tour-ready prior to departure:  sufficient fuel, oil and coolant levels are topped up, healthy and properly inflated tires, bio break etc.
  4. Once we are established on the drive, stay in your position relative to the other vehicles in the group.  Maintain a safe nose-to-tail following distance from the vehicle ahead of you.  No distracted driving, please.
  5. Stay aware of the lead vehicle.  The route may have to be changed due to traffic or road conditions/closures.  Stay flexible!
  6. If you experience a mechanical issue/failure and must pull over, the sweeper will advise the group and peel off with stranded member(s) for assistance and advise the group of status.  No member will be left stranded.
  7. Often we experience little/no cellular phone coverage along our twisty road adventures. Our group utilizes handheld UHF two-way radios for communication and safety. If you have a radio, pay attention and listen for any updates that may be broadcast. If you have your own UHF radio, please tune to channel 5-5; if we need to change channels due to interference, a new channel number will be broadcast to everyone in our group. VIsit this member discussion to learn more about UHF Radios.
  8. As always, club veterans are at your services for any questions or concerns you may have.
