About this event
Join us at "Tango Caliente," a Pops Series Concert brought to you by the Oregon Symphony.
See www.bmworegoncca.com/calendar for details.
It's no wonder that Portland is being swept off its feet in a virtual Tango craze. It's some of the most stunning music around. You'll be carried away too as talented tango dancers and the Oregon Symphony perform Piazzolla and more in one of the zestiest concerts of the season!
Legend has it that the Tango, the national dance of Argentina, was invented by gauchos and escorts dancing around an open flame. This may explain why the man constantly leans closer as the woman seems to push away at all times while kicking up the hem of her skirt lest it catch fire. Still, she hooks her leg around him every so often to keep him tantalized.
Jeff Tyzik conducts the Oregon Symphony Orchestra to provide excellent accompaniment to this dramatic, sensuous dance that is, in UNSECO's words, part of the world's intangible cultural heritage.
