Join us for a great Tech Talk video-teleconference (VTC) on Wednesday evening, June 8th, 2022 at 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. Certified Tribologist Lake Speed Jr. will discuss oil analysis in detail. If you attended his talk on motor oils last year, you'll recall that he said the only way to know you are using the right oil is to consistently analyze your used motor oil. Long-term analysis of used motor oil provides the best insight as to whether your motor oil is doing its job to protect the engine. One of our members changed oil brands after last year's talk based on the oil analysis and his engine wear metals look much better now. Lake will cover what to look for when reviewing oil analysis results.
Lake was forced to learn about oils when he was working for Joe Gibbs Racing, and after losing an oil sponsor they went to an off-the-shelf oil. Immediately, they started having cam failures when running newly rebuilt engines on the dyno. This prompted them to "design" their own oil. That, and the associated used oil analysis gave Lake the insight to fully understand used oil analysis reports, and his daughter currently runs an oil analysis business. Of note, Lake's daily driver is a 1983 Mercedes 240D. Lake is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Total Seal Piston Rings.
IMPORTANT ZOOM VTC SECURITY NOTE: We are very well aware of security issues that have raised past concerns about ZOOM VTCs. ZOOM has implemented many security fixes over the previous years and we have also instituted a number of security precautions, which include a set of ground rules that will be covered at the start of the presentation. As these ground rules constitute part of our security system, it is important to follow them.

No participants will be admitted who are using pseudonyms i.e. such as fastbenz@email.com or benzfan@email.com, Jims ipad, or jimsphone, etc Once you log in you should change your login name in Zoom if it is anything other than your first and last name.
After you register, you will get a confirmation email - make sure you get this because this email address is the one we'll use to send you the link to the ZOOM meeting. We will send this out just after noon the day before the tech session. If you don't get the confirmation, contact the registrar.
