About this event
This event is currently not scheduled but, if the stars align, will be held on a frozen lake in the Adirondaks, Satruday March 1st or March 8th. This event is open to all members and non- members who are Instructors, and students who have soloed at previous Audi winter schools. If you are not sure if you qualify contact the Event Master.
Sign up to hold a spot in this limited event. (Consider it an indication of interest) YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL YOU COMMIT TO THE ACTUAL DATE AND THE EVENT HAPPENS. Space is limited to approximately 20 participants and if the final count exceeds a manageable number, we will use a lottery to determine the roster. (Considering the many moving parts here, I don't expect a lottery will be necessary)
The format will be a day of lapping on a prepared road course on the ice. Since this is an advanced group there is no formal instruction but I encourage instructors to spend some right seat time with each other and students during the day.
For this event, we will be sharing ice time with AMEC. This is a good opportunity to meet seasoned ice racers and watch them in action
As always with lake based winter events we are at mercy of the weather and we may be forced to change the schedule according to Mother Nature’s whim. Our partners at AMEC are expert in determining the best time and place to get on the ice and we count on them to make the right decisions regarding where and when. Flexibility is the key.
This is our first chance in 4 years to get some lake time and admittedly the chances are slim but we are going make the effort to make it work.
As always we will keep you informed by email of changes which could include both date and venue.
The cost is $100 for the day driving your own car.
Consider staying over to watch the AMEC racing on Sunday. If you want more time driving on the ice, if the schedule permits AMEC may offer an introductory to racing program on Sunday. - 20 minutes of lapping in your own car for $20. Helmets are required but will be available on Sunday at no charge. Check out their website icerace.com for details.
Note we require winter specific tires: Studded or Non-Studded snow tires. If you have "all weather tires" such as Nokian Wgr series or Contintential DWS on an AWD car those are also allowed) Any street legal vehicle is allowed including SUV's and Pickup Trucks for these low speed events.

Winter specific tires are required. Studded or Non-Studded snow tires. If you have "all weather tires" such as Nokian Wgr series or Contintential DWS on an AWD car those are also allowed) Any street legal vehicle including SUV's and Pickup's are allowed at these low speed events. Come prepared to spend the day on the ice. Layered clothing, water and snacks are advised. Footwear should be warm and easy to drive in - a tough order but you can figure it out. An old pair of chucka boots and heavy socks work for me. We expect to have a Porta Potty on the shore which makes answering nature's call a little easier.
