About this event
JDP Racing School
JDP Racing together with the NASA NW region are proud to offer the only nationally recognized NASA Competition License Race School designed to prepare intermediate and advanced drivers for competitive wheel-to-wheel racing. This comprehensive two day program provides personalized instruction in a private setting, focusing on the essential skills needed to qualify for your race license.
What sets our JDP Race School apart: Our program requires a minimum participant threshold and employs active instructor participation on-track to ensure authentic race conditions. Unlike some other schools that may validate drivers in low-traffic environments, we believe proper situational awareness can only be assessed and developed in realistic multi-car scenarios.
Master the Fundamentals: Race Craft & Core Competencies
Build the skills, awareness, and confidence needed to compete at speed and make smarter decisions on track.
What You Can Expect:
- Race starts and restarts – Proper launch techniques, grid positioning, and formation management
- Flag recognition and response – Understanding and immediate reaction to all race flags
- Side-by-side racing – Safe and competitive wheel-to-wheel techniques
- Track optimization – Finding the fastest line and maximizing performance
- Passing and defending – Strategic overtaking and defensive driving without blocking
Situational Awareness: Our Primary Focus
Situational awareness is the foundation of safe competition racing and represents the most critical component of our program. This isn't just about driving fast—it's about driving smart and safe in traffic.
Participants must demonstrate consistent situational awareness across multiple on-track sessions with varying traffic patterns before certification approval. This is non-negotiable and represents the core safety standard of our program.
Participants Must Have Access to a Race-Prepared Vehicle
NASA Competition License Requirements
Participants must demonstrate consistent competency across all areas throughout the 2-day program.
Instructors maintain continuous assessment throughout all track sessions
Multiple validation opportunities across different traffic scenarios
Individual feedback provided after each session
Instructors reserve the right to require additional training or deny certification if safety standards are not consistently met
Partial credit will not be awarded; participants must meet all competency standards to be recommended for a NASA Competition License
Successful completion of this program will qualify the participant for a NASA Competition License
Our commitment: Every driver who qualifies for a NASA competition license through the JDP Racing School has been thoroughly validated as safe, aware, and competent in realistic race traffic conditions.
