Announcing “Motorsport on the Mountain”
A long weekend of mountain roads, on track fun and a good ole fashioned gear-head get together.
With a lot of the “Tail of the Dragon” gatherings being canceled (wink, wink) we thought it would be good to offer folks that enjoy the twisites another chance to get together along with our track drivers.
Thursday July 23 the event unofficially, officially begins… Check in with event staff at the Microtel and we'll put you onto some great local roads. Franklin NC is surrounded by a variety of driving roads that are hard to beat. The Dragon is not even an hour away and makes an easy half day of fun, 28 right in town is always a hoot and there are other lesser known roads that we at M4theM know and we’ll give you the inside scoop on great routes to try.
Friday Morning the 24th, we will kick off the fun with a Mystery Rally. You will be given a set of instructions, maybe teamed up with another car or two and sent on your way. You won't get lost enough to get into trouble but you will have to be on your toes to complete the route with the least amount of miles on your odometer.
We will re-convene at the start location around lunch time to gather up the participants packages so we can tally the results.
Friday afternoon will be free time you can spend at your leisure and we will help direct you to local fun or roads you would find enjoyable if you would like us to.
Friday evening we will have a gathering of the participants eat and to get to know each other. (at an appropriate social distance).
Saturday will feature an SCDE event on our course we have set up at the local police training pad. If you watch the SCDE Promo Video it is the course that is seen in the drone footage. Participants will receive 40 minutes of track time. Never done an SCDE? No problem, our instructors will get you up to speed quickly and you will be indulging your inner racer before you know it. Those not participating in the SCDE are welcome to come spectate and if they would like, enter their car into our Wacky Car Show. Participants will judge each other's cars on some silly categories just for fun. Not interested in either, we'll direct you to area roads where you can enjoy the cool SW NC mountains.
Saturday night we will have an "Event Dinner" at a local resturant/watering hole. Recognition will be given to Rally winners and Car Show category winners.
Sunday is a rain date in case of a total washout of the SCDE on Saturday.
If Sunday is not utilized for SCDE purposes, it will be another day to enjoy the roads and serve as departure day

SCDE entry is $95 for a 40 minute on track session. An all day session (80 minutes) is available for $160. All other activities are free.
Event requirements
FOR ALL NOT ON-TRACK DRIVING PORTIONS OF THE EVENT: Drivers must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle properly registered in the state of origin.
FOR ALL ON-TRACK (SCDE) PORTIONS OF THE EVENT
Drivers should print and fill out all the tech sheet and all waivers found HERE. Drivers should also read through all rules.
Drivers must have a helmet in good repair that fits their head properly. DOT motorcycle approved at minimum. SNELL M or SA helmets are preferred. There are no date limits on SNELL helmets but the helmet must be in good repair. Please contact the event organizer if you do not have such an appropriate helmet. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS there will be no loaner helmets.
Based upon current covid restrictions, the plan is that riders will be allowed with full solo competitors but must have signed the waiver, have previously been in close contact with the driver during the Covid crisis (co-worker/family member etc.), and must be able to be properly restrained in the vehicle and wear a helmet. This policy may be amended based upon NC Covid restrictions in place at the time of the event.
Drivers must bring a completed Tech Form to check in.
No loose or torn clothing.
No open toe or high heeled shoes.
