Inaugural North Shore Rally-X-HRSA-SCCA Big Island

Paradise, Hawaii

About this event

Event Announcement

Hawaii Rally Sport Association (HRSA) and Sports Car Club of America Big Island of Hawaii Region (SCCA BIHR) are happy to announce the Inaugural Paradise Rally-X HRSA/SCCA BIHR RallyCross! event on Saturday, January 29, 2022. The RallyCross will be held at Paradise, Hawaii.

While the Association entities are new to Hawaii, the event organizers have over a decade of experience hosting-insuring-sanctioning motorsports events in Hawaii. In fact, some of the group's members are responsible for bringing the first RallyCross events to Hawaii.

SPECIAL NOTE: There is a maximum pre-registration requirement of 50 for this event. The current Covid-19 Restrictions will allow our normal RX operations with 4 AM runs per participant and 4 PM runs per participant. The AM and PM runs will be separated by a lunch break.

The event will be RallyCross and participation is by invitation only.  State of Hawaii and City and County of Honolulu Covid-19 restrictions and requirements will be practiced. A thermal scan of all participants forehead will be taken. Facemasks and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Due to the restrictions, only participants and their pit crew-guests are allowed to be on-site.

Hawaii Rally Sport Association (HRSA) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit group who host, promote and support Hawaii based Motorsports and  Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education Programs in the State of Hawaii. Proceeds from the events we host-insure-sanction will go to charity. Our current charity benefactor is Make-A-Wish Hawaii.

We are very fortunate to have partial sponsorship from these generous companies:   Circuit Hawaii.

RallyCross is the most readily accessible form of extreme dirt motorsport in the Sports Car Club of America, and the perfect place to see if you have what it takes to powerslide your way to victory. Imagine a scaled down version of a rally stage laid out on a non-paved plot of land where the course is delineated by traffic cones. Best of all, it's great fun!

Event requirements

Competitor Requirements

Competitors must present a valid driver’s license, and if under 18-years of age, they must contact the Region for a waiver form.  This form will need to be signed by both the participant’s parents prior to competition.  All participants, pit crew and anyone on the Rally-X site must wear closed toe shoes. Minimum age for anyone in a competition vehicle is 14 years old.

HelmetsHelmets must be worn by all drivers and passengers during competition. Helmets must be in good condition, fit properly, provide adequate peripheral vision and the chinstrap must be securely fastened. All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SAH2015, SA2010, SAH2010, M2015, M2010, K2015, K2010), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A, British spec BS6658â€85 type A/FR, or ECE 22.05FIA helmets 8859-2015, 8860-2010, 8858-2010 standards are acceptable.

Vehicle Requirements

Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle -fully muffled, seat belts in working order- to the Tech Inspection Team at 8AM.  Vehicles shall not have leaking fluids or “enhanced” tires (no home-made studded tires).  Vehicles with a high center of gravity or excessive noise may not be allowed to participate; this is at the discretion of the Event Chairman and Tech Inspector.

Each car owner must pick a car number to easily identify their car on course. Only one number is needed per car, not per driver.  Numbers are first-come, first-serve per event, so register early. Please use magnets, or print/write large numbers on paper. The numbers must be readable from 100 feet away.

Multiple Drivers Per Car (Co-drivers)

There is a maximum of two co-drivers per heat. In other words, a single car can be used by a total of four people. Please work out the details with all drivers of the vehicle prior to registration to determine who you will partner with.

Competition Vehicle Classes

Classes for the 2022 Season shall be: Stock, Prepared, and Modified.  Within each of these classes there are further breakdowns by all-wheel, front-wheel, and rear-wheel drive vehicles.  You may download the 2022 SCCA RallyCross and General Competition Rules.
